Someone on the other thread asked which young guys you will have the most interest in heading to camp. I say Foerster and Andrae are the two I am most interested in. I'm hoping Andrae can be a somewhat scaled down version of Kimmo! Perhaps that's a big ask, but he seems like a similar type player to Kimmo.
- Phillywhiteout

Same for me, Foerster and Andrae.

I think Foerster definitely has a leg up as he played well for Torts under his late season "tryout". I think that bought some "cache" with Torts and he wont be so quick to give up on him ala York during last camp.

More than one person has compared Andrae to Timonen. We will be lucky if he even get an approxination down the line.

Given Flahr's comments about Andrae after development camp, I would say the team is going to give him a long look.

Because they can and it's a different Russia then when Ovie left. Anyone that doesnt think Putin has say in this is naive. They killed his dad for speaking out think they are going to easily release him to play in the states. Not going to happen
- hfc355

I asked you this before when you invoked Putin. Why does Putin want to keep players out of the NHL? There is no direct evidence on why his Dad was killed. That it was related to Michkov and his future as an NHL player is complete speculation. Putin has been in power for what, 20 years? Name all of the Russian players that Putin has kept out of the NHL?

even if he leaves, i'd imagine the NHL will abide by the rules or stance of the IIHF.

and yes, boosh is good.

When Michkov's current 3 year contract with the KHL expires. What would there be for the IIHF to rule on that would keep him out of the NHL?

What was Malkin’s situation like on his road to the NHL? I remember memes of his face on “the fugitive” posters.

That comparison is a bit ridiculous.

TDS?

A young talented skilled player that hasn't "earned" ice time? Seems very similar to me.

I would imagine some in here beleive that once Michkovs contract is expiring, the Russian government or KHL will literally hold a gun to his head and force him to sign another contract.

Despite all the possible repercussions both legally and from a optics standpoint, they see this as a possibility.

I actually have no idea. But I would imagine they are allowed to contact him any time they wish.

I go back to the same thing. Show me the history and documentation of this happening.

I’m not interested in the conspiracy theory stuff, but there sure were a lot of hockey people that felt that picking a Russian player in the draft was a risk this year. No doubt MM fell in the draft because of it. I don’t think it’s silly to be a little concerned.

It is and some concern is warranted but it's being made into much more. It's possible that Michkov could suffer a career ending injury playing in the KHL but I'm not going to hyper-focus on it.

Sure. But I think the major concern was would teams be willing to wait out his KHL contract, not that he wouldnt be allowed to come over when it was done.

3 more years of this topic daily, even though we knew the caveat going in.

I’m gonna stand by them on the decision until we get an answer. The team bottomed out. They’re rebuilding with youth. It was the perfect time to roll the dice on a potential top tier scoring talent that we haven’t had in ages.

We gotta see how it plays out.

I think he really did bolt on his team. I don't remember specifics but I think he straight up just left.

He did. His Russian hockey club filed a case with the US District Court saying that he had a contract with them. The case was dismissed.

where does Zamula fit in? Waiver exempt. I referred to this before, they have some nice pieces in the bottom half of the lineup, it feels like they need them all to play well so they can move one or two for a good return. I like the depth on D, O and in goal. I just hope they can get a good look at all of them, keep the best and turn the rest for what they need or futures.

Zamula is not waiver exempt. He would need to pass through waivers to be demoted to the AHL

yea, wasn't clear, wanted to infer he wasn't, why the concern over him. I think at this point you could say his chances of being an NHL D are better than not, and he has an intriguing skill set and size.

It’s a process. He’s only 18. The KHL isn’t interested in being a development league for the NHL. They have tunnel vision for their own interests.

what depth on D? Their current top 6 is putrid. The prospects behind them are not all that encouraging at the moment. In goal a lot of unknowns
