Bo chased out of Vancouver because a real captain will enforce. Going to be exciting watching QH bust some heads if anyone (frank)s with Petey.

Well if Vantel gets his wish you won’t have to worry about that. https://youtu.be/l6sAojOkd_8?si=rzhTnOCxsYzS7DaN

You'll be surprised to know that QH was Lordy's choice to replace soft serve Bo for captain.

I think making QH captain will backfire. It's going to be a burden and he won't respond to it well.

Can't be any worse than when they named Luongo Captain, can it?

Well, again, who else can you give it to other than him? EP might be traded due to his contract demands and how backed up against the cap the team is. Miller is far too volatile and not really the kind of person you want as Captain to set the example to the younger guys. Pearson, if he's not traded before the end of preseason, is a UFA at the end of the year and won't be resigned. Myers same thing. That basically leaves Hughes and maybe Boeser as the only choices and Boeser just isn't the leader type.

Oh yeah, it's been an adventure for sure. Very fortunate to have the family and support that we do, as well as the means to take care of ourselves. It was stressful, but we were able to evacuate and find accommodations fairly smoothly. Finally got back home last week and just starting to re-acclimate.

Yeah if folks lost their poop about Bo not being physical, be interesting the reaction here.

I'm not against the choice at all - all different kinds of captains. Canucks have always leaned more to the 'lead by example' model. It does make me wonder if Petey's days are numbered though. Another log on the fire for conspiracy theorists such as myself that think Petey is not long for Vancity.

- Sayros

Hughes has progressed in the leadership dept more so than Petey. More outspoken & passionate overall. Petey ticks differently with on ice play being more his style. Different ways to lead & need all kinds.

Not so sure about that. QH seems to be driven to make himself & the team better. Other leaders onboard should help him in their own way. Top to bottom they unite & develop a team identity is a big goal.

I think QH doesn't respond well to the pressure of media, fans and losing.

IMO that was a stupid decision by Gillis and Aquilini, I am wondering about the added pressure like Booner mentioned but Hughes has adjusted to poor play and criticism to become a better defensive player, so fingers crossed.

Not many good leaders respond well to losing. I think the media pressure is legit, but as Makita mentioned he responded well as a player when an aspect of his game came under fire. So hopefully it's a sign of his willingness to put himself under the microscope before he does others. Which is a great leadership quality.

Maybe I just should have used the term... pressure. I always make the mistake thinking people will understand the obvious.

The problem is that I read what you write instead of what you meant to write. Either way, I stand by my response.

Yeah, me too. I spent the week planning my road trip to the Power Trip Festival. Got a wicked itinerary. 16 days starting in Seattle on the 28th watching the Canucks play the Kraken in preseason. Then train down to San Francisco the next day/night to watch the Dodgers on the 30th. 3 days in Palm Springs. Festival in Indio for another 4 days. To LA for another 3. Gonna try to catch the Kings home opener against the Avs on Oct 11th there. And hopefully a Dodgers NLDS game. Then my head will explode.

Entertaining finish to the Monday nighter.

It actually looks like Rodgers career as a Jet lasted 4 plays.
