Well basically be saying that with any goalie that we brought in
- Buff36

It’s the same excuse.

It’s talking out of both sides of their mouths at this point(no offense to anyone)

The Sabres are so good that little improvement is needed yet at the same time any player that they try to bring in won’t be as good as they were on their last team because the last team they were on is much much better than the Sabres

There's only so many teams at the top on defense, they're certainly one.

I’d rather try and fail with Thompson then to roll with what we know UPL is.
- ImThatGuy

To each their own, I was just curious what everyone thought his save percentage would drop to. I hope we all realize his numbers here would be considerably different unless EJ and Clifton somehow make that drastic of an impact.

Logan Thompson had a .915 on one of the best defensive teams in the league and the eventual SC winner.

What do you think his sv% is on one of the worst defensive teams in the league? Do you think he breaks .900? I'm not sure.

- QuinnFan

Then this rumor falls under Adams mentality of not spending to bring a goalie who is equal to what is already in the organization. aka not happening

I get Logan T won a cup, but is he really that much of an upgrade over Levi or UPL, he played for a very very good defensive and overall great team in Vegas.

At this point I would just see how the Levi/UPL paring does.

All we really need is 1 more win a month over what we did last year and we are solidly in the playoffs.

IMO with the additions we made in the offseason I think that is very obtainable.

Recognizing the NHL is worlds different from lower leagues, his statistics in those lower leagues is pretty, pretty good. Better than UPL's.
It is deffinately worth the chance.

These guys can help for sure but its more about the whole team coming together on the defensive side of the puck. It wont come down to whoever we bring in to be better defensively. The guys we already have need to step up in that regard.

my point exactly....

When you have great teams average goalies can win you championships.

- hehateme

Hill, Murray, Neimi, Binnington...lots of rings for mediocre to average tenders. You're right.

Adams may think he can take the next step, won't profess to know what's going on in his head. But I would hope those thoughts do at least cross his mind.

Agreed, their mention was half joking as they aren't going to miraculously turn us into some defensive stalwart team. Donny's strategy doesn't really allow for us to do that either way. At the same point, if team defense does improve by leaps and bounds, you might be able to replicate .910-.920 for him, I just don't see it happening.

What's probable then? It would seem to me a step backwards should be expected given the contrast between both teams.

He'd be a legit #1 option.

Can you convince LV to take UPL?

- Lunaion

I would think they may want Comrie who showed well in BU roll with the Jets

Goalies aren't all that predictable.

He's had strong pro results, but no clue if he's going to continue to improve or just another limited sample size mirage.

Anderson was .908 last year. I don't think average goaltending is some kind of crazy ask behind this team.

We don't need him at .915, sh!t I would take .905 and a bit better of a defensive system.

Anderson got crazy amounts of rest and lots of starts against poor teams. I get what you're saying, but that .908 is misleading. I believe a .912 is considered "average" now, so even that is short of the mark. While it doesn't seem like a crazy ask, we haven't had an average that high since Ullmark, so it does seem somewhat elusive.

Thompson makes 766,667 for the next 2 years

why would Vegas even entertain moving him?

he has not asked to be traded

I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if the lack of a goalie upgrade (and perhaps other non-trades) is the thing holding up the Dahlin signing.

Hopefully we can score a goalie upgrade and convince Dahlin to sign his 8 years at the same time .
