I’m thinking what hurts Savoie is the full season he played at Dubuque.

Nonetheless, he would have hit the 25+ games mark in that season if the WHL didn’t shut down

Looked at this a little, haven't seen a mention of 25 games. Twitter?

Levi has the potential to be no better than UPL. I don’t like all the eggs in that basket. And I really like that basket.
- IndianaSabresFan

I know it was only 7 games, but if you watched those 7 games and his games at North Eastern and UPL’s games, I don’t know how you come to this conclusion?

Andrew Hammond went 20-1-2 in his first 23 starts. In his next 36 games(the rest of his career) he went 11-19-6

Hammond didn’t have any history of success before the 20-1 like Levi has. 7 games isn’t a lot but he was great (one high scoring game be Detroit which he won nonetheless). Arguably the best college career ever surpassing Miller, Hellebuyck etc.

We all hope Levi is the one, he looked good. But it's a lot to ask of the kid. A little Question for you, do you think it's smart not to have brought in another goalie ?

Goalies are nut jobs. I say that as a former one. I would play the best team in the league and get shelled with 50 shots and my crappy team would win 1-0. Then three days later we would lose to the second worst team in the league 3-2 on 20 shots.

I like all of us hope he is the real deal. But I won’t be surprised if he is average or worse.

Goalies are a different breed I agree. For a goalie to get to the NHL they are obviously very talented but what will make or brake them in the end is the mental side. Can Levi carry the load consistently, stay healthy physically and mentally. How a GM could lay all his cards on a young unproven goalie is equal to heading to the casino and dropping your land title on red 4. Not much thought but it will make or brake you. My take is if Adams goes into this season with Levi as the number one he's gambling two careers at the same time.

There's a lot of cope and contradictions here. This is definitely asking a lot.

Goalies are nutjobs. Goaltending is all about the team.

Anderson's experience was vital.

UPL will improve with age. Goalies develop slowly.

Coming soon, why everyone thinks Adams has done nothing is beyond me. This is why like I have been saying all along. They want to sign all our players and not give out big money to other teams players. Kids coming up will cost soon, they do not want to end up like teams that are strapped. Can't have a team with to many big contracts players.
Tage, Cozens, Dahlin, Power and Skinner will take up a big amount. Adams has had offers for young players just doesn't want to move them.

So you want Milan Lucic types, he signed with Boston though.

I want nothing to do with lucic or a physical team.

I want the current Sabres roster the way it is…. Just without greenway or put him in the 4th line

Why would you want Adams to turn down an Okposo for McDavid trade?

UPL will improve with age is not something you should count on.

UPL doesn’t have a history of success other than lower level (below AHL) hockey.

He’s been pretty much a bottom of the barrel backup his entire pro career.

I'm curious where the confidence is coming from that the Sabres are going to play a tighter, more defensive style of play.
- kingcong39

Granato mentioned a couple times last season in interviews about the wide open system he encouraged the kids to play to get their confidence solid that they can score in the NHL...and then stated the next step will be for the team to learn the defensive system.

I'm too lazy to search for them though.

Question is, is it this upcoming season? I would think so.

UPL has some major flaws in his game.

- reading the plays - especially pass acrosses.
- poor angles
- weak glove hand
- just not overall fluid in his movements.

Levi does all this amazing (yes I know I’m stating the obvious)

The 2 areas that we ALL have talked about for Years, Goaltending and Defense are still big ? marks with this team. Has that changed since Adams took over, all I see on here is hope. Adams has done some very good things, and I really want the internal growth to work and Levi Clifton and Johnson to be the Answers. I hate to sound like I don't like a lot that has happened and where the team could be Heading. But we still could have the same weaknesses we have had the last 4 years.

Joe B must be reading my HB posts...

"The core players around Allen are getting older and out of contract, so there is concern that 2023 could be their last chance with this complete of a team to finally win a Super Bowl. But any world championship desire begins with the Bills doing something they haven’t done since 2020, and that’s make it to the AFC Championship Game."

https://theathletic.com/4...ource=user-shared-article

It's definitely The season for the Bills to make some hay, nothing less than the Superbowl, IMO.
Question is, can McDermot and Dorsey get their respective poop together to win it all or will they have mental collapses to fail this team?

Can not disagree here. Honest question, he was pretty highly touted coming into the AHL, then had double hip surgery. How long does it take a goalie to fully recover from this and have his confidence in his body back? Are there any goalies that have gone through this surgery?

Also, why T.Pegs should be backing the brinks truck up to get Irbe back here. That dude could coach a Zamboni driver up to serviceable NHL backup.

I know Irbe and Teddy were tight and he probably doesn’t want to leave Latvia.

If you plan on rolling UPL and Levi, you should be upgrading the coaching.

I am not an expert in any way shape or form, but did anyone see any growth in the goalies’ game game last year?

All I know is you saw Irbe’s influence on the net minders, regardless of who was between the pipes. Can you say that about Bales?
