5yr 52/52.5mill or 8yr 92mill
In 3 years 12mill could be the going rate for top line D

- Buff36

That's similar to 39.

My concern is buying ages 28,29,30 still his prime.

Seems like adding 1.4 per to his avr is very low.

Especially with the cap going up and guys basing salary on cap percentage more recently

Power is softer then this post, and that's pretty soft.

Maybe I should bring your family up in my next post?

Guy is trying to fight everyone, how much of your financial future depends on the skim from these tickets?

Should dumped it all on red, same odds!

Do you expect every 1st rounder to play in the NHL in the year of their draft?
- IonSabres

Yes. That’s absolutely what I said

And only one of those are from this past draft

Which is going to hurt his development or st the very least delay it.

And I’m not sure you can call an undersized forward getting hit a “freak” accident.

Here’s Adams first rounders

Quinn
Power
Rosen
Kulich
Savoie
Benson
Ostlund

Which ones are making NHL impacts this seasons?

- sbroads24

Do the Sabres cease to exist after this season ?

Can all of the aforementioned not be a part of a cup winning team this decade ?

Sure happy we have Tage now aren’t we ? But he sure didn’t help us make the playoffs in 2020 so Frank that guy amirite ?

All of the trades for rhino, jack and risto included futures.

You know that it's not quite the "hockey future" and it takes a couple years.

We're stacked

It sucks actually Boss, I would much rather have a 8 year deal. Basically to me Dahlin is saying on a 5 year Deal is I want to be here, and the future looks very bright. But I have seen a lot of losing and bullpoop in this Organization and I want my Golden Parachute just in case it goes to sh!t again

To win a cup you need depth and elite talent.

So yes, I think they are more valuable in the grand scheme of things.

Let’s revisit this in 2-3 years and see if I’m right

- Swedish_Jesus

They certainly have a quantity of mid-1st value talent. Problem is mid-1st talent rarely ends up being elite.

And the longer it sits in the lower leagues the less value they have.

He might not be saying the above at all about holding firm on a 5 year term.

He may simply just be looking to maximize his earning power as an elite player in the league at his position, e.g. looking to get paid what he is worth and not happy to take some kind of discount.

That's the other catch here. Longer development curves usually lower expectations.

Now, this decade, after this season.

Of course you won't be wrong when your timeline is all over the place.

Tage is here and is a superstar NOW. What is Adams doing NOW to win with Tage?

Duchene
Tatar just of the top of my head
But guess with anyone, don't know unless you get them here.

- Buff36

Duchene was discussed, but with Tage, Cozens, Mitts and Krebs here, it didn't make sense. Tatar hadn't signed yet. Given that Tatar went to CO, an argument can be made that he wanted to sign for a contender, which we unfortunately are not yet. Who knows. With Quinn going down, Tatar would've made sense, but I think he fell under the "maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't" category.

Power is the only one who’s proven a single iota of value so far.

Prospect brain is an infectious disease plaguing this fan base.

Savoie was supposedly a super steal at #8 and it’s now his DY+1 year and we’re worried he isn’t close to NHL ready.

How many years down the road until Benson makes an impact?

- sbroads24

Okay but fine, then you can't give Botts credit just because we have a few years of hindsight and not give the same to Adams. They're prospects, they take time. A few years ago when Botts drafted players like Cozens we could have easily said "well he hasn't done anything yet", like no poop, the season hasn't even started and he got drafted like 3 months ago. I'm not saying plan the parade because Adams drafted a guy I like, but we can't go both ways with it.

Conventional thinking is Adams has drafted pretty well and now it's about developing those players. In 3-5 years we can talk about how they actually turned out and see if they were really good picks or not, the same way we are doing with Botts picks now.

Would they rather have made the playoffs? Sure. Botts didn't do that either and so now here we are

The conversation in context is about this offseason and upcoming season.

We all know the prosepcts are good prospects. They shouldn't be used as a defense of Adams for this lackluster offseason and inevitable disappointment of a season were embarking on

Jeeeezus, y'all are tougher than me. I'd be asking if they can't just take it above the joint and be done with it. Think more is to come? Or you through the worst now? I would be curious if it's degenerative in the sense that it will be ongoing or not.
- QuinnFan

I could use a total replacement now, but I'm far too young. Not quite 40 yet. The problems would come when the replacement wears out. Doing a second replacement comes with a lot of potential complications.

Quinn, Power, and Kulich. So 3/7. One of those guys was drafted this year so I'm not going to freak out that he's not in the NHL day 1, if Savoie had the chance to go to Rochester he would likely get an injury call too. Ostlund is in Europe, no chance for a call up. Hell if it's a tough year with injuries I could even see Rosen getting a few games. So of the 1sts, a good amount of them could easily see games this year.

Also, are we mad we got Savoie or something? Who was drafted after him that we're kicking ourselves going "see if they got that guy instead it would have been the smart move and he'd be making a real NHL impact right now"?

Would we know what we have in mitts, if duchene played his minutes last year.

Good ole snickerdoodle looked good, I'm excited for his development.

Dueshe would have blocked him in a development year

This is really good and I like the parachute analogy.

Dahlin is doing what's best for himself and we really cant Blame him.

As a fan of his, it's a better look showing his commitment to the team and city blindly for 8 years.
Not neccesarily a strike, but a 1/2 strike imo
