Was just reading about Gabe Valardi's arrival in Winnipeg. He sounds like he just moved to Bugtussle Tennessee.

I see they have Canucks picking anywhere from 7th to 11th, not as optimistic as the blog, but more realistic.

Honest question: who finishes higher in the overall standings? Bruins just lost their best player and a very good depth center. |

Yeah but most them still feel burned by last predictions for playoffs lol. It really seems like a make or break year given the Petey and Hronek pending signings as well. |

Being a Canucks fan over the years creates a feeling of expectation for disappointment. They have taken me to the heights of pure joy(being at the game in Nashville in 2011 for the overtime winner in game 3) only to follow that with the lowest of low (the riots after the loss to Boston)and in 94 the loss to the Rangers. I have mentioned before that the optimism each season brings.
But sometimes I wonder what if all these bold predictions actually do come to be? What if Petey gets 120pts and Demko has .920 save pct ? What if PA made a great deal on Hronek and he is solid ? What if Cole and Soucey help to stabilize the PK and improve team D?
I have come to expect disappointment for so long cheering for this team that it becomes difficult to imagine if things go according to plan, but this year I am allowing myself the illusion of things working out, only 18 more days till training camp.

Joking aside I think the team has improved and I like the direction. The more I read though the more I think it is possible Petey will be moved. |

I think it all depends on how they (the team/organization) do this year. He's still an RFA at the end of the year, so there's not cliff they're staring off with him.
If the Canucks turn a corner and are in the playoff hunt all year, I think you'll see him sign and be happy with the direction that Allvin is going.
If it's another poop show, poor start, sloppy hockey, media circus, late season surge when they're already eliminated... he'll ask his agent for a trade or a 2 year contract (so it forces a trade).
But I agree, I think the team is improved, the direction of the franchise is much better under Allvin (which isn't hard after JB)... for me it depends on the system and work ethic Tocchet brings to the team and how much they buy in. That's going to be the make or break. They have the pieces there to be a Seattle-like team that punches up, but also have the ability to just continue to be the Canucks. |

From what I have been reading it will happen sooner than later. I was reading a repost from someone that Vegas are very much in the hunt on EP seeing they are losing key players. It origanlly started from a Vegas reporter hearing rumblings.
Again I am a fan of Petey but I don't see the Canucks paying him that much. They still have too many holes in the roster. I am really sitting on the fence of will a deal get done.
Also to me it is a win/win decision. You either get a very good player locked in or a boatload of young talent and draft picks.

It would be ironic though, if afterwards having a great year and being in a position to make the postseason, they deem him more valuable as a trade asset when considering the long term cost. Kind of like what happened with Horvat. |

The six foot six prospect we drafted this year just scored his first of the PS. He is a guy I will follow just because of his size. |

The Canucks know he’s the guy. They are ready to pay big time. He’s not ready to accept. So you see this is the time they need to show the holes are getting filled.
It’s funny everyone else that got burned on Canucks being a better team then they showed are like Petey now. They will wait and see it before they believe it.

Possible but incredibly unlikely. You dont replace a player that talented, they would be stupid to.move him imo |

KHL & teams like SKA do this crap all of the time trying to be relevant. KHL is a 2nd rate league & always will be. The NHL should create their own Super League tourney or other events for direct competition.
After the last NHL season game…
Top 2 non NHL PO teams, top 2 SHL teams, top 2 Liiga teams, Czech team & 1 DEL team.
Play in a 2 4 team round robin top 2 advancing into a seeded win or lose scenario into a final game.
Anything else is open to discussion idc just as long as the KHL has more competition. Sick of them.
On Jurmo he looks like a total bust.
Happens drafting size without IQ. - Nighthawk
Jurmo was selected in the third round (82nd overall) so is he considered a “bust” if he doesn’t play significant games? According to this article, players drafted in the 3rd round only have a 13.7% chance of playing more that 99 games in the bigs.
https://dobberprospects.c...t-pick-probabilities/amp/
In reality, it would be a miracle if Jurmo had any impact at all. History and odds are against him.

Bust in the form is nothing says he will have a long career anywhere. Still youngish he doesn’t impress or close enough to get TOI. Just another flyer on a big guy that has low odds. Late bloomer maybe at best. |
