Oilers interested in Flyer Remember when Sanheim was thought traded? Well there is still a 50/50 chance I am hearing that Sanheim opens this season elsewhere. The Oilers really have always wanted Sanheim.

He will probably triple his production on a offensive minded and talented team.

Doesn’t he have a no trade contract?

First 4 years of his 8 year! Contract. Chuck Fletcher was a really player friendly GM.

Stay in Philly or play with McJesus! Would you waive your MTC? Plus, he would be closer to home.

This makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Sanheim is a LD and Oilers are only committed to $18m/yr. cap hit to have Ekholm, Nurse, and Kulak at LD. So EDM can definitely afford to add $6.25m to that position with their -$390k in current cap space.

Broberg could be in a deal like that.

That's ridiculous. Sanheim is not a player you just give away. He is a solid two way NHL defenseman.

What do you expect from Eklund. He reported the other day that St. Louis is having difficulty re-signing Buchnevich.

Sarcasm dude, learn it.

The Flyers have no room for another starter on the roster so get a prospect and a draft pick.

And if he goes please feel free to say that this was done because of Torts. Sanheim is a replaceable 2nd line D.

I expect him to admit he is a failure of a human being that has maliciously fabricated years of lies to financially exploit the hockey community.

As appealing as cap relief sounds I feel like Sanheim has more value than just being a cap dump.

Poor kid. He must think DB is trying everything possible to get rid of him.

Hopefully he comes back with a chip on his shoulder and he plays well enough to have more value round the league

Accountability dude, learn it.

Hockey dude, learn it.

After all, the Flyers are a factory of drafting and developing good two way defenseman. They churn them out like crazy.

I wouldn't go that far.

He's made himself a good living with this site I would bet. I don't see that as exploitation. I just wish he wouldn't make stuff up sometimes.

A cap dump at this point doesn’t make sense. There’s no need at the moment for extra cap other than being a third team for other cap dumps. Make it a hockey trade for draft capital or a prospect. Perhaps Edmonton has soured on Broberg? But, do t trade him for the purpose of cap relief alone, please.

The closest I can come up with to a reasonable trade without a broker team is:

Edmonton Gets:
Sanheim (8yrs @ $6,250,000)

Philly Gets:
Foegele (1yr @ $2,750,000
Ceci (2yrs @ $3,250,000)

Broberg
2024 1st

Is Sanheim worth Broberg and a 1st? I have no clue, but something has to be given to take 2 cap dumps to make the salary work.

Edmonton gets a top 4 of:
Nurse-Ekholm
Sanheim-Bouchard

Maybe the Flyers would even find a taker for either Foegele and/or Ceci later.

I would do it, but it will definitely make the Flyers defense go from trash to trash on fire.

Not unreasonable. Foegele & Ceci are nothing more than Edmonton cap dumps, the real deal is Broberg and a 1st (late round pick for sure). Flyers might have to send back a 3rd or something more for that to be palatable but that would give Edmonton a better top 4 although Sanheim prolly doesn’t help them keep the puck out of their own net and if I’m not mistaken, Nurse and Ekholm are LHD too.

Hanifin probably won't extend. Though I agree, even renting Hanifin for the season and unloading him at the TDL is better than keeping Sanheim on a rebuilder with that contract. CGY at least has a reason to consider Sanheim as opposed to EDM which would be among the last teams that would be interested in him.

Name the last 5 good 2 way defensemen that the flyers developed and the years they played.

Sanheim has hit his ceiling.
