The leafs can’t afford Nylander. At best we have him for one year then he walks. So do you keep a 40 goal scorer for one year or would you trade him for a 25 goal scorer that has four years left!? When you look at equal value you have to consider term. To me if you want to remain competitive you can’t let assets walk for nothing.
