Austin Wagner will be a tough guy call up I guess - Barnaby36
Sully ain’t calling up a tough guy. He had Ryan Reaves on his bench and wouldn’t let him fight. |

Does Will Butcher have a chance of making the pens roster? - pghbirdman
Highly unlikely, unless they trade from their defensive depth.
If Prysyk is recovered this could be a real nice pick up as I think he's an upgrade over Ruhwedel who was shaky himself last year. |

Too bad the rest of the world is so far away. That champions hockey league sounds cool. And I like that they are trying new penalty rules. PP is full 2 min regardless of a team scoring, and same if a team scores during the delayed call. Shorty ends the pp. |

For Vic's mocking, these are my top ten Pens prospects
1) Yager- two way player with 30 goals potential. I think the Pens got a steal because he had an unlucky shooting year, but the shot is special.
2) Pickering- offensive development is questionable to make an NHL impact, but looks to have everything you'd want in a big modern shutdown defenseman. Feels very similar to Dumoulin.
3) Blomqvist- concussions kept him from building on his breakout year post draft. But if that's behind him, he should claim the starting job at WBS. Could be the Pens next starting goalie.
4) Poulin- true swiss army knife player who does well at offense, defense, physical play, very smart, skating has improved to average, and he plays all 3 forward positions. I think if his mental health issues are behind him, big if, then he'll be worthy of a spot by the end of the year (regardless of if Sully gives him one.)
5) Gruden- took advantage of a thin roster and if fully healthy was on pace for 20g and 40 points. 22 year old center/wing is likely a fourth liner (and I ranked him 5 so yay!) but plays the speedy, high energy style that fits. He already got some time last year and could be in line for more.
6) Puustinen- right shot PP dynamo who got 11 of his 24 goals on the PP. Personally, I think he's a quad A tweener who won't get 1st PP or top 6 time at this level. I think he's good enough to score 10-15 in a support role but offers little besides offense and it isn't enough. Also hurts Nylander is similar but has more offensive upside and has improved his defensive game so he'd be more likely to be the offensive third liner. But he'll get the chance to prove me wrong, but at 24 needs to make an NHL impact soon.
7) Pieniniemi- outstanding skated, limited offensive production despite tools to succeed. Scouts really mixed on his defensive game as I've read everything from he's a standout to he needs a lot of work. Everything is there including size to be a second pair, two way defenseman but we'll see how he develops.
8) Murashov- had a breakout year dominating his junior league with a 1.5 GAA and even got into a KHL game allowing just one goal. Set to play in KHL at 18 this year. Lacks ideal tools as he is small for a goalie and doesn't have great athleticism. Instead relies on intelligence and positioning. Could challenge Blomqvist for top goalie and a top five spot with another strong year.
9) Broz- had a strong bounce back year after a disaster season prior. Still looks like Hextall reached for him in the second, but he still has the talent to make it to the NHL of he continues to build on last year's success.
10) Belliveau- play driving left shot offensive defenseman who struggles a bit on the defensive side making reads. He's not run your PP good offense so he'll need to round out his game better, but he certainly has a chance to be a bottom four defender. Turning pro and will face a stiff test just for playing time as WBS is loaded with vet defensemen this year after signing Will Butcher and Ryan Shea.
Sleeper- Ty Glover- big, speedy forward willing to do all the dirty work. His production has never matched his skill and that needs to develop more. Big year for him as I think he either breaks out and starts getting talked about as a potential call up or he's destined not to make it. |

Can’t mock because I don’t know Richard about prospects until they get into the ahl and even then all I really know is what the box score is telling me. |

For yager I read too he was trying to round out his game last year, more playmaking than just sniping, so I’m sure that also affected his goal total. |

They should have a league like street ball where the players call their own penalties. Except no one wants that on their rep so no one ever calls penalties. Nothing ruins a great hockey game than stopping play for a lane manufactured pp. |

Which one would deliberately injure Austin Mathews and issue no apology for it? That’s the prospect we need. |

He's not a PPG "elite" player anymore, but he still put up 45 points in 54 games on a putrid Blackhawks team last year. |

How would Tatar fit from a salary cap perspective? Pens arent using LTIR for jake. Right now they are over the cap by $79k with 13 forwards, 7 D and 2 goalies. oconnor, nieto and nylander all make under $925k or less. pitlick is at $1.1M. Is Pitlik the odd man out if tatar would sign for $1M? I would like nylander with geno and move rust down to help that 3rd line from an offensive perspective. right now it still seems like the weight of the scoring pressure stays with the top 6 again. Would love to see:

Not sure what Nylander has done to justify a top-6 role.
Also, you can't put Jeff Carter in the press box because...reasons, I guess. |

You answered yourself. They have ways to shave that little bit. Or just run 21 which isn't ideal but Dubas has done. |
