I know speed has never been his game that’s precisely my concern. Any slower and he’d be a certified plodder. - Victoro311
The only concern to me especially on a short term deal is if he can ever produce in the playoffs.
He metrics with Hischier were elite.
His metrics in MTL with Danault and Gallagher was arguably the best line in hockey.
His metrics in DET were great as well.
He would thrive with Sid and provide a lot of lineup options. |

As long as Guentzel is healthy Sid isn’t letting anyone else touch that spot. Is he a potential fit with Malkin/is there a significant drop in play when he plays the right? |

Don’t think there’s much difference in his play on the right and from watching him I think he’s a better goal scorer on the right side. |

Tatar is also in his 30's...fit right in.
Dubas basically said yesterday that he could only foresee signing some PTO's at this point, though. |

Tatar has played with a handful of guys in the org as well. Graves, both Smiths, Johnsson, and Ouellet. |

I'm all for it...just dont know that its realistic or not. He would be a great addition to bottom 6 when Jake returned adding a bit of scoring touch down there.

After Carter is scratched for 40 games this season, he’ll waive his NMC at the deadline 👀. |

The options for bottom 6 center for most of last year were Carter, Teddy, Poehling, and on the wings Arch, McGinn, Kap, Heinen. There weren't any combos that were going to be any good. Teddy was mostly a healthy scratch for Vegas and Poehling wasn't qualified by Dubas and then signed a 1-year deal to get yelled at by Torts.
I am withholding judgement on the coaching from last year given that for all I know Sully was playing chicken with Hex trying to get him to do anything that would improve the lineup, given that no moves the coaches were going to make would've made much of a difference. (After the TDL when it was clear help wasn't coming, Carter did move to 4C, and it didn't matter.) - MickV
Blueger played every game for Vegas during the regular season. He was scratched for the playoffs, mostly. Blueman played in 6 of the 22 playoff games and played well for them, having a goal and an assist. Along with being midpack in the fancy stats. Remember Vegas didn't care about fancy stats, they only cared about winning. He will do fine in Vancouver.
The one thing Dubas did was get a better bottom six. The expectation that these guys are going to score are unrealistic. Sullivan simply doesn't utilize them in that manner.
I also agree this team is going to be exciting. They were quite entertaining last season. Remember no lead was safe with this team, and I fully expect that to continue. |

I prefer Suter over Tatar only because he would then allow Acciari to move to wing, which I think is a better fit for him. |

He has actual skill though. Can't see Eller or Acciari filling in for Geno or Sid when they have to miss some games. |

We need to upgrade ruwh. His baldness seriously ruins the insane flow the D now has. |

DK had some interesting thoughts on his show this morning.
Specifically how do the coaches manage Letang and Karlsson each playing 25 mins a game. Can Petts and/or Graves manage those kinds of minutes? Probably not.
Then there’s the PK. Who’s playing D on the PK? Ideally you’d want your 3rd pair out there, but if that’s the case you can’t run POJ and Smith. |

Suter can't fill in bro. That is the point. He is not good especially at center. |

Its well documented around here by now that I don't like the 3 on 3 OT... However... It just occurred to me how crazy the Pens lineup is for 3 on 3 now haha... And also, the Pens lost 9 games in OT last season (plus 2 in shootout) ... They missed playoffs by a point... |

It’s safe to say the summer of Dubas has been good to Sullivan.
“This guy is impressive,” he said. “From my standpoint? I think he’s been great. He’s so collaborative. We speak almost daily. I love how he communicates. He’s been so open and transparent with me in terms of asking questions about where the team is, and where our needs might be.”.
Not a direct shot at Hextall but clearly Sully is making a point. |

I think the mindset of playing Letang/Karlsson 25 minutes each sounds really good, but in reality it would lead to big problems. If they make the playoffs, that top 4 will be dead by March.
In the regular season, you dont need to play both of those guys 50 out of the 60 minutes of the game.

Idk if this is a good thing. I mentioned this in the last thread. If the shooter misses or If the opposing goalie makes the save on his end there’s an odd man rush or breakaway coming back. |

I don't think it will be a problem, but if it is, they can always give Letang and Karlsson some time with someone on the third pair.
PK though might be an issue. If anyone on the left can play the right it's fine, but yeah Karlsson or Smith probably isn't who you want there. |

At EV they can each take some shifts with POJ, not a problem. The only issue is who plays RD on the PK, but I can't imagine it's that hard to find a cheap option for that. |

Apparently, Hextall and Sully rarely talked. Sully knew nothing about bringing in Grandlund. I can't imagine a GM and coach not having some collaboration these days.

These are the right questions to ask. In having Letang and Karlsson, the focus should be on having them both play less in order to stay healthy rather than counting on them to eat up 50 minutes of ice time between them.
I'm all good with this trade and it addresses a big issue, which is our stagnant PP. My big problem is that we have not addressed goaltending, which has sunk us 3 years in a row. We also didn't really address scoring depth, even if our bottom 6 is overall a bit better.
I can definitely be a believer in this roster but they need a hot start and some deadline support.
