I doubt the team that starts the season is the team that ends the season. I could see 1 or 2 forwards added at the deadline for a playoff push. - j.boyd919
Agreed, I know someone said it above, but what if Kane wanted to join the old gang? I'm thinking I'd probably be down with it because it would be super fun just to have him lol |

Has any other franchise been as successful at tanking when they need to rebuild as the Penguins? This team can tank, hard. We just need a few high picks to get the next generational talents, then complement them with Mark Donk Jr and Buzz Flibbet's nephew, and we'll be back hosting parades. No need to worry. - MickV

Thought he was going to Buffalo? But all seriousness he can really sit back and wait and see who is looking good and may need him. |

He is going to wait until the new year isn't he? He will probably try and cup chase with the best contender. |

Is it possible a three team trade nets each team exactly what they wanted/needed. I have a feeling that's what happened here. This Penguins team is looking a little geriatric though. It's easy to say rebuild in a couple of years but some of these guys will be approaching forty. What type of assets will be returned in trade for any of them? - Hardbalz
Rust, Rakell, Graves, Guentzel (if resigned), and now Karlsson could all be flipped in a few years if it’s not looking very promising. |

I want Patrick Kane to come here simply to tick off Ryan Wilson. |

quotes not working...
That was for Grinder. Pens just made one of the best trades in franchise history. Removing negative assets, getting the best defenseman in the league, etc etc. The team is miles better than last year. - Brownsoldier
Not disagreeing, I just think the most important thing on the agenda which has always been a new coach was not addressed. Hopefully Dubas watches some of Sullivan’s playing footage and realizes the dudes a phony and isn’t afraid to shut can him early on. |

Still not understanding how the coach has been such and overlooked thing this offseason. Everyone female doges about Carter, not the coach that put 40 year old Carter in an 18 year old Jordan Staal role for 90percent of last season with 2 linemates that never worked together. |

Not that I disagree Sully has his flaws, like every other coach in the league, but just want to say that Carter averaged 10.54 mins of 5 on 5 last season and in those 10 mins the Pens were scored on a lot hahah...of the Pens players that played more than 4 games last season he had the 4th highest goals against per 60 mins he was on the ice. The other 4 players were Dumoulin, Kapanen and Zucker...all 3 are gone.
EDIT: lets put him net-front on the 2nd PP unit and see what happens....if he must be played. Sully's biggest flaw with Carter usage is using him at all.... |

People dog Carter because he's cooked...
That said, I agree Sully has some issues and wouldn't have minded if he was shown the door. We just don't agree on what the issues are.
Of far greater concern to me is the goaltending that has failed so much really isn't changed. (Even if I understand options were non-existent). That and bottom six scoring.
Really we have a lot of the same problems. Just now our defense went from ok to exciting |

In Pitlick's last two AHL stints he was over a point per game...thats a good sign. He can play all 3 forward positions...might be a little dark horse "throw in"...the next Dupuis?...

One other thing I was glad to hear Dubas say is he wasn't afraid to put a player on waivers to have his best 22. That definitely was an issue with Hextall as guys like DOC and Smith were held back by their waiver exempt status. |

Absolutely, and that "exciting" D could lead to many more problems for the goalies who most of us are weary about to begin with hahah....the hope here is that the forwards make up for a lot of defense but who knows for sure how this will all go hahaha

Okay. He had 9 goals and 26 points the season before. I'm not seeing 15 goals and 37 points in 66 games.

You're only looking at his Habs stats....he also played for the Wild that season. Add them up.

You're looking at just his Montreal totals, not season totals.
Think all we (at least me) are trying to say is maybe he makes the team, rather than just be a guy thrown in to make the contracts even. It's not like competition is fierce. |

I think adding Graves help alleviate some of that. They did what I didn't think they could but had to to compete and basically added a top defense pair. |
