This is why we were able to get him without losing any top prospects and while dumping some big salaries. He is a gamble and we were really the only team that it made sense for. - burgh4life87
Exactly. I love all of these opposing fans coming here telling us he's old, expensive, and injury prone. No duh everyone and their mother knows that, he is also coming off a Norris trophy. It is a risk that could go right or wrong for us. It's that simple.

How about Patrick Kane on a one year deal if he is healthy Offer a chance to help win a CUP Maybe he would jump at that chance |

It’s funny because as a board collectively we have the mildest take of all time which is “Karlsson is fun and I just want to have fun before everyone retires.” And we got guys coming in hUr DuR StIlL nOt CoNtEnDeRs. Who cares, that’s not what we’re after. |

Again, not arguing the premise at all. - jmatchett383
I agree with you. He is the best offensive defenceman by far. I would say Letang is better overall than ek. Best in the league.. Josi, Hedman, idk, someone who can put up 50+ play pp, pk, and defend well. |

Interesting considering many here are happy with the move to get EK. I would think that making this move would lead to much higher expectations. - Chunk
I’m ecstatic. It’s august 7th and my main source of interest this month has been hockey related. Now it’s about to fall off a cliff till camp starts but we aren’t even close to puck drop and the amount of attention hockey has been getting from me is through the roof. I’m stoked for pretty much everything Dubas has done. Graves was one of the dmen I hoped we signed. The bottom 6 seem to be competent.
I can’t wait for the season to start but Ek is a high risk high reward move. Can’t wait to find out. But I’m also realistic about 4 old injury prone players leading a team and staying healthy. |

It comes down to the fact that we've already won and we know what a winning team looks like. We dont have that kind of team and unless some miracle happens, we wont in this era of Penguins hockey.
And that's okay. I have 3 Cups to relive and some unreal memories over the years. Hope the last couple of years are fun and competitive. That's about all we can ask for.

Count me as ecstatic as well, but for completely different reasons.
Good luck on the season! |

The last time the Leafs won the cup it was with an over the hill gang. I like this move for the pens, your old guys aren’t exactly run of the mill players. |

Here’s hoping!
Pittsburgh has a lot of experience, pedigree, and skill.
Ek I think will fit well due to the run and gun hockey this team plays. I think he would fit in better here than say Carolina who plays a very tight defensive game. If the bottom 6 can find chemistry and an identity as well pittsburgh can make some noise.

I doubt the team that starts the season is the team that ends the season. I could see 1 or 2 forwards added at the deadline for a playoff push.

So seems like Pitlick may actually be someone with a little offensive upside. A year ago he had 15 goals, 37 points in 66 games. Maybe does something with the opportunity here. |

Dubas says "nothing major on the horizon" and "this will probably be the group heading into camp"
...not sure if that completely disqualifies Tatar or not haha - YouMeAndDupuis9
He said that the only changes that he sees potentially happening is through free agency or professional tryouts. So Tartar is a possibility, I guess... He also said that he is managing waivers much differently... |

I saw this too… I think he might be our attempt at a bunting.
Dubas hinted at PTO’s… any guesses who? Ethan Bear, Pius Suter? |

Ummm.. The only pictures I've ever seen of Tim Horton were in black and and white, in all his hockey gear and it's been a very long time since I've seen one... This popped up in my newsfeed tonight and I now can't help but wonder if Mike Sullivan knows who his real Dad is, or not...

You can figure it out if you can get Tatar in at a one year vet min. - Victoro311
That's what I'm hoping for, either him or Pius Suter. even at $1 mil, when Jake comes back you send Pitlick down and if he gets claimed off waivers, so be it.

Starting to lose patience with Dubas. When’s he gonna trade for Nylander already? |
|
|
|
Is it possible a three team trade nets each team exactly what they wanted/needed. I have a feeling that's what happened here. This Penguins team is looking a little geriatric though. It's easy to say rebuild in a couple of years but some of these guys will be approaching forty. What type of assets will be returned in trade for any of them? |

Pius Suter would be a nice add. Another guy who can play center if injuries happen. |

Indeed they are. Unfortunately, as they say, Father Time is undefeated. I'd love to see everything work out, but that's a lot to put on four high mileage cars. Fingers crossed for y'all. It will be entertaining nonetheless.
I'll be overseas when the season starts, but I'm going to do everything I can to catch that first game. Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson vs. Bedard and.... uh.... Hall? - Chunk

Has any other franchise been as successful at tanking when they need to rebuild as the Penguins? This team can tank, hard. We just need a few high picks to get the next generational talents, then complement them with Mark Donk Jr and Buzz Flibbet's nephew, and we'll be back hosting parades. No need to worry. |

Good luck, hope all goes well with Bedard 👍, I like what Chicago did this off-season to get him ready. |
