Dubas says "nothing major on the horizon" and "this will probably be the group heading into camp"
...not sure if that completely disqualifies Tatar or not haha

Who would have guessed that only 27 out of Karlsson's 101 points were on the power play?
I'm fascinated by how all three teams made the numbers work to pull this trade off, and how it could potentially benefit each team.
I look forward to some cool highlights next season! |

Friedman is saying it....as is, with current roster players, the Pens will have about 5.9 in cap space to start the season and possibly until November or December... - MattStrat
I think Friedman was saying that they should be interested, not that they necessarily are.

First I need him to define major. After trading for Karlsson unless we get nylander there is nothing major. He did also state something about granlund and petry being major parts of this team iirc? So I think he might be a guy that gives a fair bit of lip service. |

quotes not working...
That was for Grinder. Pens just made one of the best trades in franchise history. Removing negative assets, getting the best defenseman in the league, etc etc. The team is miles better than last year. - Brownsoldier
Yep I agree times 10. You said it very well. It was a dream of a trade.

I'm not disagreeing with most of this but, despite winning the Norris last season, EK is not the best defenseman in the league. That would be one of Cale Makar, Victor Hedman, or Roman Josi (and maybe, just maybe Rasium Risto....nah, I can't even type that in jest)/ |

"This process has also shown me why it was appealing to come here, because Sully, the group of guys that have won here all together - that's all they care about. They're not worried about anything other than winning." Dubas
I wouldn't have expected them to say anything else, we know what this core is all about, but this comment still put a smile on my face. I'm so glad we have a GM that wants to win and not just tread water. |

I’d say most of us here, all we want is to win a round. That would be a success. If they remain 80% healthy I think it’s a possibility. Worst case, we just want entertainment. - 10inchTerror
Really? I can understand that view with a team like Buffalo who hasn't been in the playoffs in ages and needs to learn how to win a bit, but your team is loaded with playoff-tested high end vets, and you just added Karlsson and a few guys in the bottom six who in theory should help depth scoring and defense.
Seems like a pretty low bar, no? |

They are getting old and the chances that 3 of the 4 play all 82 games again this year isn’t a bet I’d be willing to take. Cinderella runs happen and I’d love it but they are also going to have to get through nj or Carolina in round 1/2. The metro is a strong division. |

We’ve won three cups. Everyone’s legacy is cemented and we had loads of fun along the way. My main desire is that the big three retire penguins and get to enjoy competitive hockey before that day comes. Everyone’s too old and there isn’t enough high end youth coming up in the other for Cup runs to be realistic at this point. |

It was so much worse than the Mike Johnston era.
For all of Rutherford's bad trades, none of them felt like we got absolutely hosed and lost a good young player for nothing. As awful as that Granlund deal was it always stings worse when you see the player you traded away flourishing elsewhere. Carter over McCann. Matheson for Petry. Marino for Ty Smith. Good lord. |

Two time all-star Jarry was the top goalie in the league in every stat November and December of last season, then he went down in the Winter Classic. Historically the guy takes time to get back into elite form after layoffs....so where Jarry really stinks is his durability. If he can stay healthy he's really good but there isnt much evidence in this professional career that indicates he can stay healthy. Crazier things have happened, though.
Should of gone after oft injured not really THAT great to begin with Demko instead of Karlsson is a really bad take though.

Karlsson isn't the best defenseman on the Penguins. The only place he's better than Letang is QB on the power play. I fully expect Letang to be on the left side of the PP. |
