That’s actually an interesting thought about Dubas rebuilding. I’m curious now about the mentality of his draft selections and how they have fared developing in Toronto.

I do wonder if Dubas has already discussed having a long leash by ownership when things start to turn sour - everyone including Pens ownership knows he's painted into a corner right now, do or die, with the oldest team in the NHL. He moved many picks out in Toronto, but a promising ratio of players he has picked deep have NHL upside.

Dubas was signed for 7 years so I would imagine ownership expects him give the core a fighting chance now, then start the tank/rebuild for the first few years and see how he progresses in that regard before re-upping him.

Just wait til they lose interest and it's purely part of a balance sheet. See Red Sox, Boston.

If they wanted to give them one last shot at making the playoffs they needed to get a goalie not a 10M defenseman. But that's fine when this blows up it will make their rebuild harder and longer

Not really. The Penguins had two of the best players ever by being awful. Going all in and then burning the team to the ground is one of the best ways to get a string of high draft picks.

To win a Cup, no. To get back to the playoffs, yes. They only missed by one point.

I think most of us Pens fans feel the time to win Cups is past. And normally it would be a good time to pull the plug.

But we want to see our core guys retire here playing competitively. Karlsson can help get them back. Top 2 lines and pairs are very good. Could also blow up with old guys getting hurt.

But most Pens fans I know are willing to take that chance and enjoy the end of a core that's given us a lot and we will probably never see again. Rebuild will come soon and will be long and painful.

I can appreciate this point of view. You guys have had a pretty good run for a while and as a fan you can give the franchise some leeway. Unlike myself, as a Flyers fan, our patience has run pretty thin over the past 48 years lol. Thanks for the response.

Still whining about Troubas clean non penalized hit on Sid
- hfc355

I wouldn’t call it ‘whining’. Just because it wasn’t penalized, doesn’t mean it was clean or that the refs didn’t miss the call. Elbows/forearms to the head aren’t usually categorized as clean hits.

Just pointing out that on more than one occasion, in recent years, the Rangers have been known to start playing a certain way once it’s clear momentum is not in their favor. Gallant probably a motivator in that regard, but he’s gone.
