I agree not a problem at all. We use to have 2 mil in dead cap when the cap was around 53 mil.

Also I expect Willander will spend very little time in NCAA. Would not be surprised to see him playing after next year. DPetey is getting close also.

- VANTEL

D Petey looking closest to being here. Physical & what we need. Willander has to adjust still to small ice but a close 2nd imo. Just something about D Petey tells me his game will fit in nicely.

He isn't out of place in Vegas or Wpg like he looked here.

He’s kinda flakey & hid in those line ups better. Lol

Woo just crossed my mind. The kid is at a crossroads on make or break time. Really has to show last season wind up is for real & take at least 1 more step.

It will be factor in many ways including getting to be a perennial PO team.

Minny has done it with what, 10 mil in dead space? Florida has 7. Edmonton has 5.

It'll be a factor, but not the sole reason for them not being a PO team, let alone a perennial PO team.

Creates a drag on ability to trade when GM’s know the plight. Constricts any real big trade to get key pieces when less flexibility.

Really intrigued with Aiden Celebrini going to Boston University. They’ve a good track record with their program. Let’s hope for the kid to make a real splash there.

On the Canucks choice to push to be a PO team I get it. That said there is too many factors to overcome.

Starts with the prospect pool & the need for them to start pushing to be NHLers. Realistically they are 2-3 years away to make any real impact if they achieve that. Players like Pod & Hog are being counted on being the next mini wave & crucial they do it asap. The need for cheap ELC’s to perform is now. It’s a hole that we’ve had for many years. The cap allocation is an ongoing challenge that only time can help. OEL buyout is ok only if the cap rises very significantly & the core can perform at a very high level. In goal is probably the least worry for me. The new D corp has a lot riding on it. It was long overdue for change but like many fans I too need to see them lead us up the ladder. The wing overload is a double edge sword in that something has to give. They score a ton or it’s another huge drag on the cap. Wingers just don’t fetch a lot.

With the history of trades for this team over the last 12 years, I wouldn't say this is necessarily a bad thing.

Well I hearya but I don’t live in the past lol

Big trade can be taken in different context. Moving salary or get need or reshuffle or get picks etc. The weaponizing of the cap is always a great asset but something we never had or squandered it. Comes in very handy come the TDL for one example.

Are those guys still considered prospects, even after playing in the NHL for a couple years? Crazy depth on the farm.
Btw Woo is a bust! He’s not making the jump, watch a few games and you’ll see what I mean.

My new prediction for the Pacific div standings.

Kings
Oilers
Knights
Flames
Kracken
Canucks
Ducks
Sharks

I don't believe Canucks are done dealing yet. I say there is at least one more move maybe two.

Still would like to see a Kuz Petey Nylander line.

Agree a move or 2 is coming. Hog isn’t 1st line unless he’s a beast on the forecheck & is NHL D ready.

Being reported that Lindholm is going to resign with the Flames. There’s a couple other rumours out there of a Hanifin for Nylander trade. As much as I would like them to rebuild, it doesn’t appear that ownership is keen on that, much like many greedy owners.

See them both as time to be NHL regulars not prospects. Pod could go to Abby for cap reasons maybe or unless no wingers moved.

On Woo the jump would be as 3rd paring RHD. That needs Myers gone & he beats out Juulsen. For now he has to bide time & be a big impact in the AHL. Not seeing a future for him past the AHL. Something drastic has to happen to change that.

Flames will flounder

Myers is a much better D than Woo, Juulsen is more ready than him as well.

I think if Nylander does end up in CGY it will last one year only. I don't see him signing another contract in CGY.
