Clearly Crosby/Malkin pushed for it seeing they want one last shot at a Cup before they retire. Ek will at least get them back into the playoffs and maybe a round or two depending on matchups and how the East goes, beyond that is up to the hockey gods.
- DariusKnight

I'd cheer for one last dance for Crosby. I don't know if it's enough, but nice to see some old dogs do some damage. Might need a more stay at home presence by looks of it. Maybe a Tanev or even Ian Cole at deadline.

Pen fans seem ecstatic about it. Only complaint not enough retention.

Yea he’s the Norris trophy winner but it could wind up being an OEL deal. No risk no reward I suppose if they win the Cup.

For the Canucks nothing changes. They still have to beat out the Krak, Flames and Kings for a playoff spot.

- Quinn's Quest

I see Kings and Kraken as multiple steps ahead of Nucks. Flames a bit of a wild card, we'll see else they do as I don't think they're done. I'd bet on a good comeback year from Huberdeau before any of the prayers we have on Van like Boeser, Hogz, Podz making any kind of significant impact.

All depends if the club can stay healthy and stick to Tocchet's systems. Demko needs a full year as does Hronek/Soucy. Scoring isn't an issue it's keeping the puck out of the net lol

A bitter racist.

Poor LMP, a team changed their racist name but he still wants to use it! He's not going to let me woke mob stop him from using it.

See LMP use their old name. See how bitter LMP is.

Yeah I mean I think they're closer to lottery pick than anywhere near playoffs imho. Counting the central division (Col & Dal locks) then Minny, St. Louis and I don't think you can count Nashville or Winnipeg out either.

I was quite pessimistic last off / pre-season and I was pretty bang on. I see this team as bad or worse. I think swapping out Horvat for some potentially better D is a wash. If you're banking on everyone to be healthy or a healthy bubble Demko, I think that's a lot to ask.

They need more from the bottom 6 and consistently. Even if they got the consistently from bottom and top 6 and D and special teams and goaltending. Still in the 10-18 range in the league. Team play is really going to need to come together. Maybe a proper training camp this year.

Agreed on the training camp. I was choked about last year, albeit somewhat selfishly as I was going to a game in Calgary. They always send these absolute scrub teams to yyc to play an intra-squad game. Flames do the same thing and send a skeleton crew to Van. I don't see the purpose in icing a lineup against a totally different tier of players just destroying any confidence of those bubble or younger guys. Then they proceeded to not ice an NHL team at all during pre-season, not allowing for any pre-season chemistry. Not unique to Boudreau either, they seem to do this more years than not.

Appeal to home fan base. Just trying to give all a chance in pre season. Give the better players a chance to get legs under them though, maybe not 20 minutes a night but before the season gets going and you aren't playing catch up.

It’s not as if there are a bunch of open spots to fight for in training camp. So yeah ice the vet team keep it limited and split games send the farm guys off.

This team needs a good start or they are toast. It starts with training camp.

Things keep changing from year to year in this division from top to bottom. Hard to say who craps the bed and who has their sh!t together. From Vegas outside one year to winning the Cup the next. Flames top of the league to missing the dance the next. Hard to say where the cream rises.

So Canucks could still suck or find the right formula to click. For them it starts from training camp and having a good start to Christmas break.

I don't mean they're a lock like Stars & Avs.

I just mean those 4 teams (Jets, Preds, Wild, Blues) could be in the mix. Blues have at least re-tooled and are now surrounding Thomas & Kyrou ... though I don't like their D much and their goaltending is the king of all wild cards.

Where would you rank them in terms of best players on our team?

Kyrou I really like, maybe 2nd. Thomas I'm not sure about, maybe 4th. Petey above both obviously.

I'd put Petey and Hughes above Kyrou and Thomas. I have a hard time putting St. Louis ahead of us in terms of talent.
