Kind of my point, if he’s moved for something else and they don’t win the cup the fanbase and media will blame that lol
Hence why I think it’s an off-season move or nothing. - Dozzer That would only make sense. Getting the prospect and pick, plus picking up another player to fill his spot would energize the fanbase. The Leafs have been devoid of top end draft picks, throughout the Dubas years. Amirov was a tragedy, but sending firsts for guys like Foligno and getting rid of bad contracts hasn't sat well with the fanbase.

Matt Dumba is still out there. Clearing Willy's cap space would get you Dumba. |

Oh yeah I can see the logic completely.
It’s just not something I see happening at the deadline. If they make the choice to roll with him for the year they’ll stick to it.
But if they can move him, get some picks/prospects, and sign someone like Kane on the cheap ($4 mill or less), it would get them under the cap without having to only carry the starting lineup and ramp up their future a touch. |

Even as a mod I’m happily letting the “step-around” the filter for this story stay untouched lol
That’s so damn cool tho… getting to watch what you did and meet him afterwards, that’s a bloody lottery win. I imagine that back in those days if anyone seemed comfy on that size of ice rink it was primarily him as well? - Dozzer
The next year, the Canadian World Juniors set up camp at the Quinte Sports Centre. Gary Leeman, Wendel Clark and Russ Courtnall were on that team. I think there were 5 Leafs prospects that were there for that training camp. Again, my friend got me in to watch the workouts. I was able to have a brief chat with Leeman and Clark in one of the corridors, when they were coming out. Always great having Ball Hockey buddies that work for the Sports complex. One did the Zamboni scraping, the other was a penalty box usher. Later on in the 90's, the Woman's Olympic team used the Sports Centre to get ready for the World Championships and Olympics. I was working in a restaurant at the time and the Finnish Ladies team ordered food to their bus, before they left, after an exhibition game. Nothing like athletic Scandinavian women after they've showered. No complaints doing that delivery. |

Are you literally attempting to blame their lack of success because I kissed it in 07’?

I got to perform music directly to it, hence why I kissed it, not because I thought I won it lol |

No, not alone, but he could have helped to fill the void.
But the pieces willie brings in along with whoever would have been signed could be or at least could come close. |

Just to be clear I see it as a 50/50
Your reasoning makes sense to move him before risking losing him for nothing but I also believe my reasoning to keep him makes just as much sense. - Dozzer
For sure. He could be kept all season and do a sign and trade at the end of the year. Thats possible as well and perfectly fine to if he doesnt get extended. |

Willie’s value against Tarasenko is only $1.9 mill. Be used as nothing more than some cap space for a 13th forward, 7th d man, etc |

Possibly, but the lose him for nothing to use him this year approach still wouldn’t surprise me. Not for a $9 mill guy signed on for $7 |
