after he did it Homer said other GM's were pissed. - Peter Richards
Yes. He was on good terms with most GMs, including Poile, before the Weber offer sheet. That changed b/c of the Weber offer sheet. Took years to reconcile. |

To address your point more precisely, SC has played more than half of his playoff career, iirc, with Giroux on his wing.
To be actually precise, you don't recall correctly.
191:26 ES TOI with Giroux in the playoffs, 315:41 without.

Not really. They aren't going to go long term. So it's probably a question of two years or one year. It'll get done. - bmeltzer
One year seems like a bad move by the team because he'll have arb rights after that.

They also made George, Paul, and John famous. Imagine that. - MBFlyerfan
Ringo is ranked 14th in Rolling Stones top 100 drummer of all time.
I remember the moment, standing there and looking at John and then looking at George, and the look on our faces was like, '(frank) you. What is this?'" said Paul McCartney, looking back on the Beatles' first time playing with Ringo Starr. "And that was the moment, that was the beginning, really, of the Beatles." Though he was often underappreciated during the flamboyant late Sixties that produced Keith Moon and Mitch Mitchell, Ringo didn't just ground the greatest band of all time, he helped give their music shape and focus — listen to the ecstatic rolls that open "She Loves You," the crisp buoyancy of "Ticket to Ride," the slippery cymbal work and languid concision of "Rain," or the way he threw cute, memorable "rhythmic hooks" into many more of the Beatles beloved tunes. Personally, his good natured geniality made him the band's most approachable member. "John would go up and down and all that," said Yoko Ono, "but Ringo was always just very gentle. And he really believed in peace and love." As a left-handed drummer playing a right-handed kit, Starr came up with his own unique style of creating crisp exuberant "funny fills," and his steady reliability became an early gold standard for no-nonsense rock players, serving each song with feel, swing and unswerving reliability. "Ringo was the the king of feel," Dave Grohl has said. Says Jim Keltner, "He was the guy that we all tried to play like in the studio." |

Couturier also didn't play as much with Giroux in the regular season during his time as the Flyers 1C as a lot of people think, apart from the 17-18 season when Hak kept them stapled together. And before that they almost never played on the same line.
2562:20 ES TOI with Giroux, 1786:51 without
17-18
1152:00 ES TOI with Giroux, 197:31 without
62 ESP in 82 GP (Giroux had 66 ESP in 82 GP)

58 ESP in 80 GP (Giroux had 61 ESP in 82 GP)

2021
221:37 with Giroux, 412:54 without
31 ESP in 45 GP (Giroux had 32 ESP in 54 GP)
Over those 4 years Couturier scored 197 ESP, and Giroux scored 190 despite playing in 11 more games. The product-of-Giroux narrative doesn't hold up to even a simple level of scrutiny.

It's about sample size. Almost half of Couturier's playoff games came in the 11/12 and 13/14 seasons where he was used as a 3rd line center with little PP time. - MJL
Yes it is when it suits your argument. otherwise not a peep. |

I hope so ... no ... really, I do! The Flyers are thin at center, both on the big club and in their system. It's great to have Cutter and Mochkov coming, but who is going to play in the middle of them? |

Gautheir is playing at center this year and the Flyers see him as a center at this point in time. |
