I would an exciting offseason every year or even once in a while. 7 year deals, NMC, and NTC are made for the core and the elite.

I understand why the isles did what they did. However, in doing so they have hampered their opinions for the very near future.

People here were pissed with trading 1st rounders for active key players. Wait when the next GM uses them to get rid of some of these guys. Especially with a dry pipeline...Isles will need to look at hidden gems in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.

This all could have the making of a fire sale in 2025! Paint on the new building is still too fresh to even consider that at the end of this year.

Just a select few should get 7-year deals and NTC.

I'll never understand giving the deals they gave Mayfield, Pierre, or Varly.

I hope it works out but bringing back pretty much the same team that got bounced out of the 1st round is not a good idea. If the idea is to win A Cup, it's a very strange way to go about things and you are putting a tremendous amount of pressure on Sorokin to be lights out. You have to make tough choices in a Cap world, and you need to have enough space to make improvements to the team. The Islanders are just not in a position to bring back the same team. The Islanders losing twice to Tampa and the Canes in the playoffs is not a fluke. If the Islander can somehow add another scoring wing, they can make things very interesting.

Ben is just waiting on the Islanders to make some news. Have we even gotten any type of assistant coaching changes?

Islanders do not make it easy though. Lou is always in lockdown mode like the C.I.A. Islanders are already stuck in the Rangers shadow. They do not need another MM as GM, but they need someone that can sell a vision and talk up and get the team more attention. Sports is about entertainment as well and especially in 2023. Islanders got a lot of attention with the Bo trade. WFAN was actually praising the Islanders being aggressive and adding offense. They needed to add another scoring wing this offseason and it has not happened yet. I think so far, bringing back the same team was a letdown, and it will not get a lot of positive attention.
