I hear you on DB. He's got a lot of work to do thanks to Chuckles. We can't expect instant miracles here. I'm willing to give DB a chance. We also have to remember that the players that we biotch about all season are not that appealing to other teams for a reason (performance, contract, etc). It's going to take time, so all we can do is see how it plays out. - Don Nachbaur
Not for nothing and I know DB wasn't in charge but he was part of the leadership group (Fletcher's assistant) that brought in Tony. We also know that Fletcher doesn't make moves unless everyone is on board (that way nobody can point fingers at him). Doesn't that suggest that Danny was on board with Tony's signing as we know he was with the ND signing?
It just seems like some people are treating it like DB, even though he wasn't in charge, wasn't here and agreement with Chuck/Torts on a lot of the moves that were made. The team only fired one person, kept everyone else, and hired Keith to do the PR work (not to make hockey decisions).

Hey Bill if not already mentioned, Lew Morrison passed yesterday. He bartended at my local watering hole down in South Jersey after his career was over. Really great guy, nice to everyone. Fun fact, I believe he assisted on Bobby Clark’s first NHL goal. Rip Lew ! |

I'd love to know what really goes on "in the room." I find it hard to believe that TDA eating with the team while injured was the only reason that caused Torts to turn on him so quickly after playing him in all situations the whole season. I was never a Torts fan (especially for this team) but I am far from being a hater that thinks he is so evil that he controls everything. The TDA situation is rather alarming. I can see Hayes but TDA to me, despite his defensive flaws didn't appear to be lazy, coasting, etc. - Don Nachbaur
DeAngelo was scratched seven times last season (including each of the last five games). He was moved down to the third pair in the second half of the season. Torts also apparently called him out various times in video sessions. There was also the NHL suspension from the spearing incident with Perry.
In general, Tortorella spent much of the season seemingly annoyed with TDA. The final straw appeared to be whatever happened surrounding the April 4 game in St. Louis because TDA was scratched in each of the five remaining games afterwards (including the game where the Flyers only had 5 D).

Getting rid of Tony DeAngelo is a good thing, no matter how it happens. |

I heard. Lew's son, Ryan, contacted the Alumni yesterday to inform the organization of the sad news.

From all the different things that have leaked out both TDA and Hayes were very well liked in the room. Hayes especially. The issue with both is they weren’t buying in the way Torts wanted them to play consistently. Both guys are offensive players but hardly good enough to continually f things up when it came to systems and situational decisions on the ice. Hayes sometimes looked lazy, but that to me is more a skating style for a big man. I also agree TDA never looked Lazy or lackadaisical to me.
The issue with both guys wasn’t the teammates it was the coaching staff.
I’m not alarmed at all by changes we are making….The Philadelphia Flyers are not a bad hockey team with a bunch of great players. |

more like a poop show. They should just have waived him to the phantoms and waited him out to not report and then terminate his contract - Bayareaflyer
If the team did this, it would be awkward.
The contracts and money problems will dissipate.
A reputation for being complete Richards would last much longer.
No reason to sully what is one of our strengths, traditionally treating the organization's members with class and dignity.
Don't shoot those bbs at me. I know it hasn't always been smooth and polished in every instance but Philly has a good/great rep that attracts.
Treating pros as schmos is not befitting us.

cant wait to see where Tony D ends up. Isles be a good fit. What teams have a terrible PP that can use his skill set? |

What's done is done. They were going to get rid of DeAngelo regardless. - bmeltzer
That doesn’t change the fact that this organization is and has been a wreck for the last 5-7 years |

I cant wait until who the next player who ends up in the dog house and the coach wants removed.
Take a poll on who that will be. Excluding Sanheim.
