Neither the Hurricanes nor the Flyers knew. But yes.

The downside is the 2004-25 portion. DeAngelo would have been off the books after 2023-24, as he'd have become an unrestricted free agent. Now, the Flyers will absorb $1.67 million on their 2024-25 cap.

This is far from the only downside -- Let's ignore the assets given up to get rid of Ghost (a similar player) then to acquire rr, and then turn around and sign this guy only to buy him out after 70 games

So far Briere has moved out Provy and TDA from the defense. Any predictions for our D pairings? Broad Street Buzz predicts the pairings as:

Risto-Sanheim,
York-Walker
Seeler-Attard.

- Thors-Hammer

More likely:

Sanheim - Risto
Staal - York
Seeler - Andrae/Walker

Zamula clears waivers.

Agreed. If someone get injured call someone not named Belpedio. Its sink or swim time. Flyers need to let of this competitive poop.

All of that is true but it was an excellent “ bias for action” trade. So we have that going for us!!
It will take 2-4 years to get out of the bad contracts Fletcher and team signed. Travis S. Risto R and Ryan Ellis contracts are very bad and the jury is still out on Sean C.
Finishing bottom 10 in the league while still being a maxed out cap team takes a very bad GM and we had just the guy to do it.

more like a poop show. They should just have waived him to the phantoms and waited him out to not report and then terminate his contract

Do not see Andrea making it. Also imo Zamula will not clear waivers. Someone will take a shot with him

Based on the direction the flyers decided to take buying out was the best move.

Not the direction I would have went.

Danny boy has not been impressive to me.

He gets and A+ for having the balls to draft the Russian as flyers of the past would have skipped over him.

Removing a player who asked out ( solid trade no doubt) and trading/buy out 2 players the coach told you to get rid  (add in sanheim who they are trying to move) of is a piece of cake. Takes no real savvy to execute those moves.

Look who he has signed (also approved the ND signing). Look at who he has not traded. That tells more of the story to me. There is no rebuild. Not much has changed. The coach has a huge say in how this organization is being run. How is that a good thing?

You have 2 bungled trades. Only getting a minimal return on 1. Had to buy out the other.

What's done is done. They were going to get rid of DeAngelo regardless.

So DeAngelo was so toxic to the room that he couldn’t be tolerated for one more season?

The coach needs to be brought to heel. The Flyers have a huge problem on their hands.

For anyone that didn't get a chance to hear Gene Hart call a game live.... man, what a broadcaster.

Who would've thought the Broad Street Bullies announcer would bring such class and vocabulary to us savages of 70s Philly? Lmao, "whirling dervish." Imagine trying to figure out what the hell he was talking about before you could Google that...

Why are people mad at DB? He has got a lot of mess to clean up from feltcher. I'm glad he was able to move Hayes but st Louis is I'm a good spot to trade gik at the deadline and get a solid return for him, especially if he retains salary. Armstrong was smart to grab him when he could.
I'm assuming Hayes was part of the culture issue we had in the locker room.
Torts didn't help us at all by treating Hayes the way that he did, though

We say that about all the kids that could go thru waivers every summer... Ratcliffe, Morin, Rubstov, Stolarz... they all cleared.

Have you ever considered that once chuck was fired and Briere was interim GM that he may have told Torts to keep him scratched as to avoid injury so he could trade him?

Fletcher is the gift that keeps on giving. He was so horrible. The Wild will be paying for his F-ups for a few more years. So will the Flyers.

I'd love to know what really goes on "in the room." I find it hard to believe that TDA eating with the team while injured was the only reason that caused Torts to turn on him so quickly after playing him in all situations the whole season. I was never a Torts fan (especially for this team) but I am far from being a hater that thinks he is so evil that he controls everything. The TDA situation is rather alarming. I can see Hayes but TDA to me, despite his defensive flaws didn't appear to be lazy, coasting, etc.

I hear you on DB. He's got a lot of work to do thanks to Chuckles. We can't expect instant miracles here. I'm willing to give DB a chance. We also have to remember that the players that we biotch about all season are not that appealing to other teams for a reason (performance, contract, etc). It's going to take time, so all we can do is see how it plays out.

Trade deadline had passed. It would have to have been a serious injury to render him untradeable. Why didn't they scratch Hayes under the same premise? Your premise is not plausible.

All of this! We need to be patient. DB can't unbury us from the grave that feltcher put us in in just one fell swoop. So far I am a huge supporter of DB. He has a lot of work to do to get us out of the hole that the fetlch put us in. I'm focused on where he takes us 3 years from now. No need to sell everything with an upcoming weak draft of 2024. Hold out if need be. We still need solid leadership and veterans to help the young kids develop. Laughton is a guy that I want in the organization.
Although if the rumors are true I may have moved Laughton for the mentioned return but it's all hearsay
