Well, he probably saw yzerman collecting 2nd and 3rd liners as if they were Pokemon, and thought he wasn't going to get #TheChance. Realized there was no place for him so show his worth, and would never be able to up his value. Figured he'd go somewhere else so he could show his talents and build off of that.
