Rizzo may have been a 2019 7th round pick, but he has had two good seasons for the University of Denver. Last year he was better than a 1 point/game player as a sophomore. There seems to be upside here.

find out what the scouts in your area say about him when your at the rink.

There is a big difference between taking on salary in the beginning of the season in a flat cap versus at the trade deadline. When cap hits are prorated. Teams have a better grasp of their cap situation and injurie create need. As well as teams looking for playoff depth. If Angelo is kept and he continues to produce offensively, the market for him at the deadline would be expanded some.

As far as the latter comments. I'm with you.

I generally agree. I do not think that will improve the return all that much. Is Rizzo better than a 4th round pick? That's what it really comes down to.

I don't know how much influence Tulsky has, but I do know Carolina are everything the Flyers aren't. Smart, successful, ruthless.

That assessment can change if they acquire Karlsson.

Let me rephrase, Torts needs to let DeA play and not bench him. Just let him put up points and avoid the drama.

If they don't trade him the defense room becomes very crowded. They keep talking about development. Zamula will be on the team and he needs to play. It is most certainly not ideal to have him wasting away in the pressbox. IMO he would not make it through waivers.

NHL roster:
Sanheim
Angelo
York
Ristolainen
Walker
Staal
Seeler
Zamula

Add in Andrae, Attard, Grans, and Mete. That is a lot of guys who will be looking/pushing for NHL minutes. The scuttlebutt, especially for Andrae, is that he may be NHL ready now.

Only Zamula HAS to be on the NHL roster, but as I said, you don't want him sitting for long stretches. York is waivers exempt but we all know he isnt going anywhere.

Who sits? Staal? Walker? Seeler?

I think the FO will have some trouble convincing Torts to sit any of them regardless of whether or not they should.

But in the end they are failures, they crash and burn the playoffs. They have a lot of decisions to make soon, a lot of their top players are due for big contacts.

They will have to pay them and start trading pieces away to fit under the cap.

Why couldn’t all those guys sit at times ? Staal even mentioned he went to Florida expecting a much reduced role

This is why Staal was not needed in anyway. Should have moved Seeler as well.

My guess is they move Tony D somehow. Even then Zamula is the 7th imo. Which is silly.

You have Flahr saying Andrea is ready, no fn way imo does torts keep him up. Mete was for AHL though guess you can add his name.

It is weird that despite Waddell saying it's a done deal, that it hasn't happened. Maybe there is still a hold up with the league, but who knows. I do agree with you in that a lot of these guys are pushing for spots, some sooner than others. Based on Attard's extension, they seem to envision him being in the AHL at least for this upcoming season.

But Flahr saying Andrae is ready now is pretty telling. Charlie also gave him huge props in his development camp write-up. There's also that little nuance with his SHL contract. But will Torts play him over Staal or Seeler? Is it possible Seeler gets dealt before the season starts? I still think him, Walker and Staal are gone at or before the deadline (at least I hope that is the case). And i guess there will be injuries. Maybe they can sneak Zamula through waivers at least to start considering he's coming off an injury.

Teams competing with others, is what improves the return. The potential opening of the market can create that versus dealing with one team only in trade negotiations. It's a question of leverage.

The buyout period has ended. Cates did not go to arbitration, so there is no second window available to the Flyers. A buyout of Angelo is no longer possible.

How many drinks would the Sens GM have to have to make that deal? Or did the Sens hire Chuckles overnight?
- Phillywhiteout

So a big part of this was to gage how much Flyers would want for Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny. Clearly the last deal was too much,

so here's the new deal:

To Philadelphia
Shane Pinto, Tyler Boucher, Mathieu Joseph, 2021 1st (OTT)

To Ottawa
Scott Laughton, Travis Konecny

Every team but one ultimately succeeds. Having two top offensive players injured and out is not crashing and burning.

Provorov is gone. Someone has to eat minutes. My guess is that is Staal. Briere was talking like he was surprised Staal was willing to sign with the Flyers. There wasn't much market for him I don't believe.

If Staal is getting 22+minutes a night, we will be in the running for Macklin Celebrini. I can get behind that.

I don't know about 22+ but I believe that Staal will play a significant role for the Flyers.

Looking forward to the “he’s not coming over” posts for the next 3 years
- ClaudeFather

Yeah. Lots of those posts will be from me haha. JK. This might turn out to be a very risky gamble for the Flyers. Pray that he eventually comes over.. Maybe we'll go back to the days of defections from the USSR.
