He’d easily get 3rd line time and potentially a few top 6 looks when injuries happen.
However, a DOC-Granlund-Zadina 3rd line doesn’t strike too much fear. - drummer829
He's less physical and has a worse shot than Acciari so he wouldn't be getting time over him. He would have been a decent project on a 4th line, but he went somewhere he can get some pp time and hopefully top 6 time. |

FWIW.... Rossi just said SJ has given permission for EK to speak with the Pens and Carolina directly and EK would rather go to Pittsburgh. |

If ek thinks Pitt is a better option then I clearly cannot trust any decisions he is going to make with the puck. |

three reasons apparently... Thinks the system fits him better. Likes how the Pens treat star players. Dislikes Burns.
Don't know if any of that is true, but I definitely see the system fit.

Is that just for him to see who he prefers as a fit? It's not like he needs to engage in contract talks. Guess now he is just seeing who will give him the most ice time and top power play minutes. |

I would venture though if true that whatever team ek does choose, this takes any leverage out of the situation SJ would have. |

I’d imagine they’d try Letang and EK on the top PP to start and I’d bet Letang would be the first one they drop to the second unit if it’s not working out.

Ultimately EK holds all the leverage. If he says it’s the Pens or no body, SJ is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Wouldn’t be surprised if a first isn’t even included in the deal unless the retention is >30% |

Sid has apparently been talking to EK. Wine and dine his ass and get him here Sid. |

I wonder if things are being held up with the arbitration buy out period. Pens/DOC arbitration isn’t until august 4th, but the Hawks have their player on July 20th. Could Granlund be traded to Chicago on the 20th then immediately bought out by Chicago?
Maybe a team feels more comfortable buying out Granlund versus retaining salary on EK? Then Petry is added into a deal for EK. Pens shed $11+ mil, and SJ retains only 20-30% versus the 50% teams wanted.
A team like the hawks get a high pick
Edit: nevermind, missed the tidbit about the player has to be on the clubs reserve list from the trade deadline |

I’d imagine 7 teams on his no trade list are the Canadian ones. So that cuts his lost almost in half. |
