I would say more of a 2 year window. Needs to look like a fringe NHLer this season and a competent NHLer the following season. - Feds91Stammer
He was looking fringe last year then he took that leave of absence. Sucks |

If we don’t see Poulin this year it’s safe to write him off in my opinion. He’s kind of out of time unless he’s an a-typical late bloomer like Rust. - Victoro311
A few reports I read said they would expect him to be called up mid season when they need someone once he’s back in game shape and playing up to speed.
Luca Fantilli is also adam Fantilli brother. Hopefully the Fantilli just hasn’t kicked in yet and he is a late bloomer but they said he has a good all around game with no weaknesses. Que the Adam Fantilli to leave cbus and play with his brother rumours in 7 years. |

If he's playing good once back in hockey shape they should call him up regardless. See what he can do. |

The good thing about Pickering is that he's put on 10 pounds since the season ended. Him and Yager both need to bulk up. - SuperHenderson13
Yeah and it also makes me not concerned if our only 2 first round prospects (minus this year) get traded away for an ek, hanifin, or konecny. |

Full disclosure I’m biased here. I don’t love him as a prospect. Everything he’s shown so far seems like a reach as a first rounder. His main selling point seems to be “knows how to get goals in the dirty areas” which I feel just about anyone whos good at hockey at the junior level of play can do if they feel like it. This is why I like Yager. He has an NHL shot. Can he put the rest together so he can actually make it? Idk but I can get excited about the shot. I can’t really get excited about this random I tango able of “knows how to score”. - Victoro311
Hockey sense seems to be Poulin's strongest trait and that's not bad. I'd say hockey sense is what takes Guentzel from a 20 goal scorer to who he is.
Skillswise, I've always said Poulin is probably a third liner at best. But his size, hockey sense, and attention to defense could push him into middle six who rounds out a scoring line. 3C also seems a possibility because he took off as a pro when they moved him to C halfway through his rookie year |

Basic timeline of Poulin IMO.
Draft year was considered a high second and a bit of a reach. Might have been a late first in other years though, his class an unusual amount of guys made the NHL quick which looks bad in him fair or not.
Next year was considered a breakout at his level as his skating improved and he seemed to put his tools together.
Last year of juniors he stagnated. Really wasn't much more to gain at that level and seemed almost bored.
Rookie year at WBS started slow. Halfway through the year they moved him to C and put him on a line with Nylander. From that point on he was possibly the best player on the team as the scoring picked up and he became noticable all over the ice.
Last year came in with a good camp, was one of the last cuts, and an early call up. So right on track. Then he had whatever happened personally that still nobody leaked (mental health?) and he missed most of the year.
TLDR- prior to his break, he seemed well on his way to establishing himself as an NHL player. That break is concerning because we don't know the details and if it's behind him, but as a hockey player prior to that he was doing fine. He has a diverse skill set that could thrive in a bottom six role and possibly help in the top six though I doubt he's ever the star of his line. |

Even cheap home grown 3rd liners would be nice to have. I’d him and nylander could start to form a 3rd line towards years end that’s more than we have now. Same with Luke Devlin. 2021? 6th round pick. 6’4” bottom 6 power forward would be nice to have in a couple years if he can keep progressing as he has been. |

Him becoming a 3c is my ideal scenario. |

That would require him to make a massive jump in development this year. At this rate I don't think he will ever be an NHL regular. Until he shows he can generate offense at the AHL level I don't have any hope for him. |

In that case abandon hope for everyone but DOC. He was in the same ballpark as Puustinen and Nylander and he's younger |

He lost an entire season in critical development years. That's rough. Puustinen has shown continued growth over the last 3 years which bodes well for him making a push at the NHL roster this year. DOC is the most likely to stick in the NHL, but I also think he has the lowest ceiling. |

That makes sense. I'd love to see him prove that he is a top line center this year and closes in on at least 60 points at the AHL level. |
