if I'm not mistaken, you're allowed to go over by 10% during summer time. TOR is currently 8M over, so roughly 10%. need to move a contract to sign their goalie (who should take +/-3M).
and then lose another contract before game 1 to be cap compliant.

good. I don't trust the league all that much to deliver on their promises but at least it's supposed to move a little.

I know the NBA is light years ahead of the NHL in terms of revenues, but it's pretty crazy when you consider the cap there is currently at 136 million, and it's projected to reach 231 million by 2034-35... and to think basketball teams only have 15 players on their roster, jfc.

The new TV contract is suppose to be a boon, but it is slightly in jeopardy, so we will see if it actually goes up significantly or moderately the next 2 years. I have heard anything from $2M each year to (overly optimistically) $5M in each of the next 2 years.
