If the go out and get Domi, too, (or someone else) I expect Nylander is gonna be traded so Matthews can get his extension.

Their real problem though is on defence.

Rumours say matthews will get 16m

t think they can go that hight with the current cap, 20%, but if he wants all in money, he will wait until the next cap max is announced.

I do not think he gets $16M.

I think maybe $14M.

no, either they extend him this summer or they trade him imo. cannot really start the season without a new deal. can you imagine the distraction?

I guess that would depend on the kind of relationship there is between the player and the team, if both parties are basically on the same page and everybody knows a deal will eventually be reached, it might not be such a huge distraction.

then again, it's Toronto, and kinda like in MTL, fans tend to overanalyze everything and freak out about nothing, so in a sense the "circus" would be unavoidable lol.

Cap going up next year, the 3 1 year guys are likely to get more money. Reaves, not so much

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to go up this year...

That Arizona Coyotes mess really is hindering them

plus I think the Coyotes' LTIR has reached its limit in terms of contracts that other teams can dump there, they can't even do the only thing they were good at lol.

good. I don't trust the league all that much to deliver on their promises but at least it's supposed to move a little.

I know the NBA is light years ahead of the NHL in terms of revenues, but it's pretty crazy when you consider the cap there is currently at 136 million, and it's projected to reach 231 million by 2034-35... and to think basketball teams only have 15 players on their roster, jfc.
