agree.

I am more curious to see how Myers game improves with 15-17 minutes a game, his line assignments with Hronek, Soucy and Cole in the mix. If he is still underwhelming at the position use Hirose, Rathbone and even try Woo.

It does surprise me how so many here covet players on other teams that are mediocre , and devalue players on their own team that are also mediocre.

There is also the fact that our mediocre player contract ends this season and some want to pay the other mediocre player multiple season at 4+ a season….I guess Dumba could be the new whipping boy, people will miss that with Myers.

- Makita

If you're saying Myers is mediocre....

Dude's a 6 mil liability back there. Mediocre is an upgrade to him and OEL.

Mighty presumptuous of you thinking his game will improve

Don't think the Canucks brass is pushing their chips in to experiment with a potential Myers rebound/maybe slot some rookies in to see how they fair if he sucks after however many games.

You know with injuries that Myers will be playing 22-24 mins a night in no time.

Well I very much disagree with your assessment of Myers, and yes I do think management will run with Myers rather than jumping into another black hole dman like Dumba for multiple years at a bloated contact.

So Myers is the Ironman dman.

Guess we will see what happens but if Allvin moves on from Myers I really hope it’s not another Benning move in Dumba. Allvin has made a few good moves so far, so hoping for a measured move, and not reactionary.

Is it grass is greener syndrome? I mean you need a watchable team. I don't want another season or three of Bear Stillman Poolman Dermott and as much as I like Burroughs.

It would be nice to see three deep pairings of NHL D for once. No one is suggesting long term as the two or three potential prospects develop.

I mean would you rather Ethan Bear at 2 mil for two years or Matt Dumba at 4 mil for two years? To me it is a no brainer.

Unfortunately from what I've seen, I don't think it will. Dude makes dumb decisions first shift of the game or right at the start of a shift. I find he actually plays better when fatigued end of the shift. Stops using his useless brain and just flails those long giraffe limbs around wildy ... far more effective.

I mean really splitting hairs here. A difference in winning one or two more games in another losing season imho.

Dumba regressed last season, not good for someone going into a UFA year. I won't even venture to guess how much he should get? A smart GM would sign him to a 1 year show me deal, buys time for both parties. #BuyerBeware

I don't know the exact number but I think Canucks set a record of some sort for home game losses of 5-1 last year. The hockey was brutal. The PK was the worse in the league, the GA was terrible, it was hard to watch and in fact most nights I didn't watch for the first time in over a decade. That is how bad the back end was last year.

I don't mind losing a close hard fought game but last year was like watching the calamity of the Keystone Kops.

Canucks are not a playoff team this year IMO but they will be better setting up plenty of cap room and saying bye to at least half the people that need to leave.

I am all for keeping Myers until TDL and selling him then when he will have a return value. We are talking four more months, I can live with that.

Yeah all I mean is that I don't think Myers, Bear or Dumba move the needle. Maybe losing Myers in itself does as his errors are so egregious at times, but he probably does force people wide and yada yada with his long reach that I probably don't give him credit for. His gaffs are just far more apparent and oh so frequent.

I think the D will be better as well. The forwards lack any kind of physicality though. Any time there's scrum in front of the net, we have no one to push back unless the D come in and we lose an offensive faceoff. Miller maybe, but I suspect he'll go hollywood this year and focus primarily on scoring now that this is effectively his team.

Even if a tad better this year, they're nowhere near a bubble let alone playoff team in my books.

Well first of all Canucks don't have a whole lot to spend.

I think from the way things turned out this summer with the signings there has been nothing over 3.5 mil and nothing longer that 3 years. I don't see them breaking that rule. Hopefully they have learned from their mistakes.

Want to add to the Boeser, Garland deals? Let someone else f*ck up for a change.

Again I don't think this is a playoff team this year so the tough physical forwards is not necessary. We were one of the top fighting teams last year and finished 11 th from the bottom so that is something they can take their time finding. I think with Joshua JTM it is a start. Let's see the final roster.

I did say this Summer.

I think the Garland Aman and Dakota line are going to be a pain in the ass to play against.

Anyway you cut it they have a surplus of wingers and apparently no takers.

I believe they were also tied for top 10 in scoring last year so I am fine with that.

Boeser was a 55 point second line player having a bad year.
Garland had 46 points as mostly a fourth line player.

No doubt overpaid but still very productive for where they are playing. Beauvillier will be gone at TDL.

I mean Boeser's numbers seem vastly inflated. Maybe some touches where Petey or Horvat were scoring since he was given so much opportunity to be top liner.

Why does everyone say Beauvillier will be gone? He's one of the few players I like on the team ... one of the few with some passion.

If you're talking watchable hockey, you need a little bit of this in the regular season. It amps up in the playoffs no doubt where I agree, canucks won't be.

Nothing I dislike or like about him. 18 goals 40 points 5'11" making 4 plus mil.

Let's see how he does with Miller this year. He was Abby's best player last year.
