Woo is a RH Briesbois. There is something there and it is the borderline minimal required to be a NHL player ( I think). Is it enough? Probably not if you are looking to be a contending team. I think sending him down would be a positive sign that the bar has risen. Same as Briesbois.

RHD depth is a highly sought commodity. Not a ticket to the NHL. He still has to take more steps & the AHL is his place to do it. If he can do that it’s a big bonus.

Now that Debrincat has gone to the Wings who will the Canes go for to help their PO scoring?

Pesce could be dangled for sure.
Scott Morrow?

Is EK who they are after or could we move a winger to them? I wish lol

On Woo I’m hoping his injury setbacks are behind him & his confidence continues to grow. If that happens he could be a near future 3 RHD or a good depth D. His game & physicality translate well. Still young but he needs a statement AHL season.

I track prospects. Easy to say players are a bust cuz odds say only a finite number of players in the NHL. Nothing here.

I make narratives on what I believe needs to happen & how prospects can make it to the NHL. I didn’t anoint them a promotion.

... on Raty. This kid hopefully should be busting his balls right now to show up in camp and blow everyone away. He is looking at the best opportunity he'll probably ever see to get into the NHL as an impact player. The Canucks desperately need a 3rd line C and if he doesn't give everything he can to grab it, he's probably going to be a disappointment.

Blueger is a nice addition. A strong 4rth liner who will see a lot of PK time. That will also help Raty as he can just concentrate on 5v5 for the time being if he makes the cut out of camp.

Another thing to consider is Raty could be part of a trade that brings in a 3rd line C. Don't rule that out.

Not earth shattering…

Does say how many D were needed to get through last season. Our D depth has improved albeit nothing spectacular.

That’s great but I watch hockey and have seen nothing from those 3 that would indicate that they could ever play in the NHL.
Don’t get me wrong, Abby has some players that might compete just don’t think it’s any of those guys.

If his agent hasn’t told him this he should fire him. Best chance he’s going to get, he should be all over it.

That’s why ‘fringe’ was mentioned as potential like many prospects league wide. Overall narrative was a slim prospect pool.

He fell to 54th from a highly ranked 1st round prospect for a reason. My guess is his development curve turned off scouts & GM’s. His size & skill set as a C still has him as a hopeful. He cannot continue to go along as he has. A new address is one thing but he’s a reclamation project that has to show he wants to be an NHLer & won’t be given a spot. His skating has to improve & he also has to force his way into the picture. He like many other prospects has to have a big season & show substantial growth.

One more reason they were added. Still need depth & quality at that which we lack. It’s getting better but still plenty to do & starts with prospects & recent draftees.

Imo there has been more talented prospects flop than prospects with the desire & determination to make the show.

Comes down to learning what it is to be a pro & forget the glory years as a junior & before. It’s a totally different beast to be an NHLer & want a job more than others & earn it & keep it.

Most careers get carved outta being 3rd & 4th liners. Adapting is everything. The eternal search for stud D will never end or be filled. Top 6 F’s are continually sought after & many are there by acclimation more than on merit. Top 4 D is the biggest challenge to get set in place to compete & go on PO runs. That’s mostly a proven historical need that again won’t change ever.

The game may evolve but some things will always remain.

It's nice to have a few spots open on F and D for guys to compete for. There are always 1-2 suprises.

I'm hoping Hirose or Jurmo on D make it hard to send them down. FWD there is less space but the standard Pods / Hogz need to step up! I have hopes Amin can be 3C if we don't address.

Always need spots open to compete for. Keep players hungry & set up long term success. Competition is lacking on talent alone.

Early on in the prospect pool filling up but it has begun but plenty to do yet.

More drafting to come. The PO mandate isn’t in line with the prospect pool but that’s more the problem past regimes left behind.

We’ll have to live with the present & let somes years go by to get to deep prospect talent. In the meantime it’s on the ice & coaching which we count on.

Oof being a Canucks fan isn’t easy 🤪
