Lefty's trying out for 5 different squads.
Thank goodness for that salt water pool.

Well it is the season of optimism til the real season begins. Then judgements etc can truly begin. It’s all a matter of timing & perspective.
- Nighthawk

It's wait and see. Since draft day I haven't seen anything that has a chance of being a big regret. No 6 year deals on 29/30 year old one dimensional players or anything like that.

One thing they have done is openly set the bar at the play offs. If they are serious about that, they will bring in another center. What will that cost? If they don't, they are not serious then.

Time will tell.

They weren’t happy the decade before then. Or before then. The entitled have been around since conception. The only real beef anyone has is the cost going to games.
- Nighthawk

I was here through the decade before. Most were happy... rallied together against the critics... didnt deny they had a top team. You were on CDC perhaps... but its wasn't as you suggest at all here.

They are never going to make everyone happy. If you and the likes of Makita think that's a reasonable expectation.... you are more delusional than the haters/cheerleaders/whiners/slurpers/denial monkeys/pom pommers.

I think they have built a bubble team but picked up some good pieces.
- VANTEL

WC is the goal imo. Beyond that they’d have to do a lot to quiet the naysayers & in Van that’s never gonna happen. In ‘82 fans made excuses how we lucked out to the finals. ‘94 the only run the city got behind. ‘11 the tear pies were & still are a thing. Success is a word lost on many fans when negativity is good fodder for the media to feast on.

Agree mgmt’s approach is something new to us showing more restraint & willing to make tough decisions. 3C hunt will continue & won’t be easy to do. Need the team to up player values to start with.

You haven’t been around enough nor been where I’ve been. Many old fans are cynical & quit on the Canucks out of spite over not winning a cup or history from days gone by. I worked the games. The Blazers of the WHA had fans that partied harder & had less of them. You need to get out more lol

It's definitely wiser to deal with the 3C this summer rather than being forced to because of injury during the season which is bound to happen. Then you are at the mercy of 31 other GM's.

A piss poor UFA market & a very depressed trade market with this last year of flat cap. Cap space is king but that will slowly change to a more realistic level in coming years.

Next season rfa signings will be crucial for long term success. Expecting some large cap increases coming & how well Mgmt navigates spending across the roster will determine their legacy & team success or failure for many more years.

When that idiot Rutherford says they need major surgery, which I agree with, then only let's go of some 7 and 8 defenders, is just more of the same, very Benningesque

I was talking about HB when I said the "here the decade before". I've actually been in BC since 88.

Wow, everyone to be happy in the entire Canucks fan base world wide. And I thought that was a tall order for HB.

They signed a #4 and #5 arguably and drafted potentially a top 3 Dman? Those are significant steps.

The D has gone through a significant makeover since the beginning of 2023. I'll wait to see how it all plays out but I'm optimistic it will be vastly improved.

Other than he moved Bo & dumped the anchor Benning gave a 1st for. Myers is only a matter of time. It’s so Van to think the hole Benning dug is so easily rectified & heap it on the newest regime so offhandedly.

If nothing else it’ll be more steady without the recent plugs of other years. It’s wait n see time indeed.

This is why I started with a clean slate from draft day on. Looking at some direction. I'm still not happy with moving picks for or to make cap space for Dermott and Bear. It's clear now that the 2nd, 3rd and 5th or what every it was would have paid off better than the 2 players they are letting go and the 4rth and what ever I'm missing from those deals.

Ungrateful Canucks fans. Spoiled beyond belief. They don't deserve all the success that this team has delivered in the last decade.
- boonerbuck

I understand why there are complaints, but nonstop female doging about everything, even complaining about the things that haven’t happened, but by god they may happen.

What is wrong with being glass half full for a new season ahead, glass half full for new additions and the attempt being made to be a better team.

Now look what’s happening, Vantel has had very reasoned, realist takes on the team dynamics and players and he will be called a fanboy, cheerleader, swallower, just because he sees what is being attempted and is being open minded.

Negativity breeds negativity, optimism breeds scorn and ridicule.

Watch Myers have a solid season being a contract year and all.

It's definitely possible. Season before last he played respectable hockey even though it was out of the ordinary.

You are getting annoyed by a shrinking minority of posters. They may never be happy.... therefore you will never be happy. You are caught up in the spokes of that wheel.

I'll be happy when this team is stable and moving forward. At the moment, I'm optimistic by the most recent moves. No less, no more.

Maybe you’re right, it was why I stayed away for 4 months, (sorry about Aaron thou), but the draft and new additions have given me more optimism in the last few weeks, started with OEL buyout.

This offseason has been the 1st real sign of stability becoming real. Again it’ll be all about the character in the room buying into what coaching wants. Accountability & playing for each other. Bo is gone & the team leaders a new season to make real change happen. I don’t expect Demko to stink outta the gate like last year & that alone is optimimism enough for me.
