In the case of BB he still gets paid. Sure the optics looked bad but didn’t stop RT & Gonchar & Foote signing on is all that matters. UFA’s still signed here even in a skinny UFA pool. Really looking forward to what the new D coaches can teach the D & prospects.

Cannot get attached to either players or coaches. It’s biz.

Yeah less concerned about the optics for BB. It's just the season was lost already, and I kind of figured they understood that which was why they fed Martin to the wolves and didn't bring in another capable NHL goalie to at least split the time till Demmer got back. They did Martin pretty dirty for a stretch there. No defense and a team that was in complete disarray. Almost automatic goal every time they took a penalty.

I don't know one person who does the Grind for the views.

Now Shannon Falls is a similar grind, but you can find some nice secluded spots and crazy views from up there.

- bloatedhefty

Yeah Shannon Falls is a nice hike and great sights.

Sedin does it 11 times and the prospects struggle up it once. Shows just how far off these kids are from being in elite shape like the Sedin's were.

I took a friend up on a bow hunt in the mountains just outside Manning park back around 2000. We had a piece of property there.. and old mining site. He is a gym freak. Ripped head to toe. I told him none of that is going to help him. He honestly believed he could keep up with me and beyond. I was starting to put on a little booze fat by then. He tapped out after the first day. It was pathetic.

Even funnier was the first time I handed him my bow with a 60 pound draw. I told him be careful, the bow will fight you until the cam's let off kicks in... 60 lbs pfft he says. He couldn't get it to full draw. This guy's ears even had muscles.

If you haven't back packed vertical trails, or drawn a bow days on end... jogging, weights, stair climbers, skating etc etc only go so far. I've seen some pretty tubby guys chew up those goat trails in the alpine because they have done it every September for years after some prep in Aug.

Gym muscles and life muscles are very different.

I've always preferred none gym training exercise if possible. I'd probably do the grind bi weekly if I lived there and I don't even like cardio.

There are multiple hikes up Grouse with no crowds and decent views.

I've lived in Vancouver for 27 years now and the local mountains are something I haven't taken advantage of. Pretty much ignored them. Get my kids skiing lessons and drive them up but that's about it. I've spent more time on Whistler Blackcomb.

Canucks seem to be done now. Hope they don't try to force anything.

Was looking through teams and I'd say most have set rosters as well. Didn't find too many teams that could use someone like Garland. If they could it was mostly a team like Chicago or Anaheim who are rebuilding.

Around the TDL, that will change a lot. That should be the time when they decide more roster moves.

At this rate as well, Podz is probably down to the minors. Essentially have 16 forwards and 10 D fighting for spots.

I use to hit the local ski mountains. Fished the Capilano River for a while in the early 90's. It has a very early Coho run. Having this stuff local was a thrill if you recently moved from Toronto. It became another city full of trouble for me though...

When I moved to the Cariboo and quite drinking, I had myself a good hike I did every second day. Fast pace up a steep logging road for 5km and then back down. My Rotty kept it interesting. She liked to run ahead out of sight and burst out of the bushed growling over and over. She never got bored of that.

Nice, important to get the kids skiing. Makes the winters ok. My dad was a huge Alpinist so I was raised hiking and skiing. Actually in whistler for ten days now solo. Super relaxing up here

If they had any balls they would waive Boeser to see if any team would bite

I use to hunt with guys who fell trees all logging season on steep hillsides. These guys drank like a mother (frank)er, smoked a pack a day... were always hung over. No one could keep up with them... they would be on top of the mountain drinking bear they had in their back packs when we would finally catch up. Who throws a dozen beers in their pack with their tent and sleeping bag for the climb? These (frank)ers do.

I have to admit, it was pretty nice having a cold beer waiting for me once I got up there. It was like a shot of pure energy.

Pretty much my take other than Pod & Hog will be earning a spot. Pod is waiver exempt & could be odd one out.

I don't think it would be a big deal if Dries or Studnicka are claimed on waivers. Even Wolanin, Rathbone or Woo.

I always take beers hiking or skiing. Pop them in the snow and hydrate at the top 😍

Well now you mention that lol

Why not be fully upfront instead of making it sound like Pod & Hog have no place or chance for a roster spot?
