This team is going to have a lot of bottoms.

14. Colorado Avalanche

Top 5 Skater Prospects: Byram, Gulyayev, Behrens, Ritchie and Olausson
A pretty decent top 5 (for a contender and recent Cup winner especially).
Not a ton of depth to it but an above average system.

Colorado at 14 has Byram, a couple smaller D, a guy with similar upside to Raty and a player that scored less than Klimovich in the AHL this season.

Not a chance that Colorado has a better farm system than Vancouver.

On the Canucks, no, which is why it gets harder and harder to watch these clowns.

So did everyone other than Benning and 3 or 4 fanboys. He was firmly on my DND list. Bader is worthless

How we didn't take Matt Boldy there was honestly mind blowing

Thoughts on #Canucks’ top prospects at development camp scrimmage Wedesday:
- Willander has wheels and showed mature patience at times, particularly 3-on-3 and when breaking the forecheck. Took a lot of hits Wednesday. Nothing dynamic, but he’s young for this environment.
- Lekkermäki shoots with zero conscience, and is always in the right lane. Puck follows him around, and he was clearly the most skilled guy on the ice. Isn’t the snappiest decision maker off the rush, but is lethal when he is.

Two of Vancouver’s 2023 draft picks also stood out on Wednesday: Vilmer Alriksson can’t help but stand out given his size (6-foot-6), but also showed some flashes of potential (and some flashes that demonstrated how raw he still is). His shootout goal was a silly display of skill for a young man his size.
Ty Mueller is clearly a smart player, and it showed even in a scrambly scrimmage environment. Just constantly in position, with a high work rate. #Canucks

Elias Pettersson the stand out from the 1st period of the #Canucks’ development camp first half.

Assertiveness and defensive IQ jump off of the sheet, even in a make-shift summer scrimmage environment like this one. More there as a skater and puck mover than advertised too.

How many players do you like in the league? Over 6’4, strong fighters and fast? 3-4 players in total?

He's still really upset about the Bruins first round loss, a tuff one, to be certain. As well as they're (frank)ed in terms of their future because they went for broke, failed, and now have no first round pick next year or any prospects to speak of...they are doomed for many years to come!!

It's hard work to harbor that much hatred inside of you, but he's managing it well...I think he's also upset the Coyotes, Flyers and Kraken are all on a much better path going forward than the Canucks are. At least he has the Columbus Blue Jackets in his back pocket, they've assembled a tremendous prospect pool there in central Ohio.

I pumped his tires for a long time. Not down on Pod being he’s a different type of player than Boldy that we need to break out.

I've always said VAN needs that junkyard dog kind of player, I hate to use Tkachuk as an example but like that only nastier. Granted a very difficult player to find.

When the Canucks had Torres during the 2011 season everyone in Vancouver hated him because he was too mean and dirty. Ran him outta town. Same with Matt Cooke, ran him outta town too because he was too dirty. Canucks fans get what they deserve....53 years of failure!!

Yeah don’t get it but Canucks have more lower draft picks for some reason. I don’t get all the hate for prospects when that’s what is asked for so often.

More like NHL ran them out as they piled on those players getting suspensions as Canucks. Ever since the Burtuzzi incident Canucks and nasty have a red flag from the league. At least that’s how it seems.

2023 Pres Bruins
vs
2011 Pres Canucks

One league dominant team vs another I’d take the Canucks. Easy choice

As much as I hate the bruins, since 2011 at least they've been able to take a few shots at the cup again ... and had mostly very competitive if not elite regular season teams. I'd take that any day vs. the canucks. The fact that the teams' prospect pools aren't that far apart vs. the rest of the league is pretty infuriating after the last dozen years.

I don’t get this at all. How can you have the deep prospect pool over a dozen years? It would mean you are constantly rebuilding. Canucks are a young team as well with more prospects filling up roles.

Don't think Pod will ever live up to his pick. I like the kid, he tries hard but he's a pretty straight laced get in on the forecheck maybe bury a few here and there kind of player. I don't think years of development is going to change that. Not really looking back pining for Boldy, but there's a more back there as well caufield, newhook, krebs. Alas, this is the life picking always picking 10-15 ... not going to be a can't miss prospect in those spots and it's always going to take some luck and development ... and luck.

I don’t disagree, they did a great job at remaining competitive for a decade after 2011, primarily because their key guys they won with in 2011, Bergeron and Marchand, were 25 and 22 years old. Chara was 33 but he was so good into his 40’s.

Unfortunately for them at some point you need to rebuild though, a fate they’re going to have to accept whether they like it or not.
