I personally think the offensive game was coached out of Hamhuis in Nashville, he could have been more.

I agree. It was present in his early years. One of the things that drove me crazy about Green. Drain all the creativity out of players and try and turn them into a systems robot.

I thought he was overhyped but I admit he was very reliable ,sturdy, and exactly what a team needs.

Finally nice to see some hope for the future.

I know. When was the last time we saw a 1st round Euro D prospect impress in international tourneys, then come to NA to develop right away? Can't miss.

No chance in hell. Every September we get the letter from the Canucks begging to re-up as a season ticket holder. It goes straight in the garbage. They lost my loyalty long ago. Plus, the entertainment level does not justify the cost of admission. Who wants to pay $120 a seat just to be frustrated? Not me.

Yeah seeing a knights (granted playoff) game this year, the entertainment value is pretty stale in Canadian cities … at least games I’ve seen lately in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Edmonton doesn’t need to try cause there’s nothing better to do there, and they have mcdavid. Vancouver is apathetic and they rarely switch things up, same music, same sounds, etc … and Calgary is just a dump.

So nice to talk hockey without having someone constantly bragging how amazing the USA is.

One can only dream. I've heard scouts compare him to Hamhuis with a higher ceiling. They are not talking clone of course. Just his well rounded set of skills.

• TSN’s Craig Button is also a big, big fan of Willander and had him as the eighth-best prospect available. After the Canucks’ selection, he compared Willander to the likes of Rasmus Andersson or Charlie McAvoy, two very smart defencemen who make good decisions with the puck in their own end and drive play up the ice with high consistency.
That's who he reminded me off. Even went back and watched some of MCAvoy's u18 highlights and yeah.

Nice.

Willander was asked who he wants to model his game after. He said Heiskanen. Excellent choice...

Just from the highlights, his mobility looks great. Quite elusive, almost Heiskanen like.

Looks like a pick that can pan out very well in the future. Hopefully with more players like him, it will bring up other players.

29 mass shootings this year so far, they should hit 30 by the weekend.
God bless America.

His former Forward skills really compliment his overall game.

Good choice to move to the back end with his high hockey IQ.

Canucks should look at Podkolzin at center in the off season and Linus Karlsson.

Long listen but so far through 50 minutes, a very good take. Rationale. Very odd for Drance.

Maybe they can bring back Virtanen to play center instead

Yikes….I don’t think the KHL even wants him. Podkolzin will always and forever be a bottom end player, oh well, even Yzerman makes mistakes.
