Yohe's article pretty much said what we have thought. Petry is being dangled everywhere. Might have to eat 1-1.5m to get rid of him. If it is just 1M, we only have to worry about that for 2 years. Totally fine with it.
As for Granlund, I hope he buys him out today. That would clear 8-10m salary, putting us around 23-25m in cap space. We could continue to weaponize it and make a splash in FA. I know, I know....Beating a dead horse here. - Grizzsh

Dubas has been asked about tending... His response was how unpredictable it can be. I think he's going to throw a couple of new guys (couple of 1b's) at the wall and see if it sticks. Not saying it's the best approach, but it doesn't seem like it's HIS #1 priority.
Marshall was on the radio yesterday saying the Pens should be doing everything they can to pry Vejmelka from Zona. That should make 123kid happy. - madmike71
I wanted Vej as well. That would make me happy too haha |

Uhh the knock on Bertuzzi would be health as well especially considering he’s already had to have back surgery once. - Feds91Stammer
Yea that's true, I forget about other players injuries when they aren't on the Pens haha. |

I think we could get average goaltending from him with a competent def. corp. His cap hit is also attractive. |

Hahahahaha. But in all seriousness I believe Biz was saying he had one of the better high danger save percentages. Idk if true or not. But also liked his cap hit. If we are going the route of keeping Jarry as well it would be a good tandem. |

We certainly don't have one at the moment. A couple moves away, though. |

If we had any guts, we'd send Evan Bouchard an offer sheet. |

And why would he want to come to PIT?
Also not having that 3rd next year kills your offer sheet abilities. |

hes not known for his defensive capabilities, do we really need another offensive Dman? I want a player who has some offensive prowess but defense needs to be their strong suit.

I made a post about it on a different thread but Yager said going into this season he didnt want to be seen as just a goal scorer but a guy who can be a playmaker and also be really strong 2-ways. So that is what he spent the year working on and while his goal scoring disappointed vs expectations, scouts called out how good he was as a 200ft player and how well he did matching up against opponents top players.
So he hurt his draft position but probably took a big leap toward being a better NHLer. I wasn't super high on him until I started reading interviews with him and he has the mindset. I think he is going to be a stud.
In retrospect, I'd have taken him over a handful of guys in the top 10. - MacPatty
Nothing wrong with a skill guy committing to rounding at his game early. Alex Nylander and Sprong are a couple guys who stalled their careers by learning that too late.
And I don't think he totally sacrificed offense. His shots went from 3 to 3.5 per game. His assists doubled. My hope is he just had an unlucky shooting year and we reap the benefits. That said, he needs to score at least 40 if not 50 this year or it's a trend.
I like the gamble of talent even without the all-around game. But the fact he does play 200 feet makes him much more likely to make it. |

The things you do when you want to get to the cap floor but also maintain financial flexibility for a better group of UFAs next year. One year deals on non contenders are usually that. |

Him and Foligno are there for cap floor and Bedard protection. Then flip at the deadline for mid round picks. |

I'm convinced Dubas is going to do at least one "splashy" move to put his fingerprints on this team. I really like the Hanifin rumors. Perfect add to rejuvenate the D. - madmike71
If we were to move a first, this is definitely the type of player we should target. |

They still have a bunch of roster spots to fill out and could have taken on more dumps for picks though. Perry at 2 mill makes him an easier trade piece at the deadline if that's what you want to do. But I guess it's hard to get people to sign there without a massive overpay. |

I can't remember.... Do we start seeing "unofficial" UFA deals before the actual start of free agency? Seems like the NFL has deals done 2 or 3 days in advance. |
