Rossi saying the Penguins have engaged the Flames about Hanifin. Good to see the discussion is happening. But Rossi says the deal will be hard from the Penguins perspective given other teams can offer more. |

I think what makes it awful was Hextall just making moves with no rhyme or reason at the deadline. Granlund, Bonino, Kulikov? The cherry on top was seeing guys like Bertuzzi and Niederiter going for 2nd rd picks.
I understand the thought process of going for Petry and trying to get a good 1-2 punch on D. But then you watch your team flounder for 3 months and give them Granlund? - drummer829
He was hired to tear down the Penguins and rebuild, so that's what he was doing, and I am pretty sure it just continued even after new management told them they wanted to compete. That or when they told him to compete he blew a transformer box or something couldn't hockey anymore. |

I feel like if you’re other teams, you keep waiting and hope they lose out on guys like Bertuzzi in free agency - drummer829
Much as I'd like Bertuzzi, we need a goalie more. Plus getting the guy in trade v bidding on a UFA |

He would definitely be the ideal player. But as noted, we don't have a ton of assets and I guarantee Dubas would want him extended and not a rental.
If we are trading with Calgary, I think I'd prefer trying to get Lindholm and going with Graves in FA to boost LD. |

I’m very interested to see how the next couple weeks play out. Wings have a surplus of middle 6/bottom 6 forwards now. - Feds91Stammer
Is that the same Kostin that the Blues took with the Pens 1st round pick (30th overall I believe) they traded for Reaves? hahah |

Yes it is lol. Now he appears to be a capable bottom 6 player
Edit: and the pens pick in 2017 unfortunately had to retire at like 20 years old due to concussions |

Yea I saw the 2nd. I thought they were just keeping him though. If you look at the hawks forwards, the max length of their contract is 2 years |

For sure hahaha...but why in a rebuild trade a pick, even if its a 7th rounder, for the rights to UFA Corey Perry? scratching my head on that one |

Pens, Panthers, Sabres, Leafs and 1 other team I cant name are the serious bidders. I do know as it stands Hanafin wants to play in the US and only will sign a contract with a US team |
