Half the league passed over Perrault for some reason. I’ll take the D man. Settling down play in our own end is as big an issue as anything with this team. At least we already have a pretty deep well of wing prospects imo.
- hereticpride

6 teams passed on Michkov, doesn't mean the Flyers didn't get a steal at 7th.

Probably more than half the teams who picked in the 1st round are going to look silly in 3 years. We just don't know which ones yet.

I understand your reasoning. Just pointing out that while (hopefully) the Flyers have drafted game breaking first line talent, they still have nobody who is projected to anchor the defense but maybe he will turn into the next John Carlson who was drafted 27th overall.

Now what if they both only hit their floors? Bonk will still be in the NHL. Perreault, not so much.
- Tomahawk

to make the claim an 18 year old with a one year sample size of decent Canadian junior statistics will be an NHL-caliber player in his worst possible trajectory showcases a lot of ignorance.

A lot of players taken in this position never make it, high floor projection or not.

Sanheim has had significantly better offensive and defensive results at ES than Provorov while playing with absolute trash for the past three seasons.

It's not a coincidence that last season the team allowed 3.02 goals every hour Provorov was on the ice at 5on5 compared to 2.16 for Sanheim. That's a massive disparity for two dmen playing 17-18 minutes per game.

https://www.naturalstattr...ines=single&draftteam=ALL

How does a defensemen who can't play defense end up with the best goals against results on the entire defense over an 82 game seasons where he got the second most 5on5 ice time?

- Feanor

no one is talking about Ivan. Clearly Sanheim doesn't have the value you and others thin he has, hence look at the blues deal.

If he is as good as the metrics show then he should be easy to move for a nice package as he is on a bargain deal for a top pair dman in his prime no?

So far the Briere regime has provided evidence that they are in fact in rebuilding mode and as of now and warrant the benefit of the doubt regarding trust they are in fact punting current value for future value.

And on tk he will be 29 when Michkov comes over.. if they decide they want him around for the early window of prospective contention it's fine.

By moving provy and Hayes? Perceived cancers? That’s not a lot of evidence there. Hayes return was nothing. Essentially only provy moved. That’s not a rebuild. Look at Chicago and Detroit in this draft. Even buffalo still. That’s rebuild.

If available Carter Sotheran played with winter hawks is on flyers radar. This is inside knowledge. Might be a 3rd rd pick.

Flyers currently botching this rebuild. I hear the idea of holding assets for a bigger return (and to a degree, I agree with it) but if those picks come next year, you are pushing the pieces that can help back another year.

Scott Wheeler's piece was the genesis of the entire conversation (which I quoted lol).
