Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that the Blues may be including another asset in the deal along with the sixth. I imagine it would have to be a prospect if the whole deal isn't announced but maybe the deal also includes a conditional pick swap. |

I don't see how this is a great move by Briere. The Blues did extremely well on this one. Briere's hands were clearly tied by Tort's trashing of Hayes. |

Blues GM should get 5 to 10 for that theft. |

This wouldnt be unheard of. It sets the expectations so low... gives everyone time to fight over if it's good or not... then release the remaining part of the trade to make it look even better |

Why would the Flyers pay 10.5million for a sixth round pick? Seems like a real stretch. Blues fleeced them. - skkoloff

Probably just a part of a larger deal because at this point alone, the Blues are adding salary and they're ultimately trying to shed some. This is 'lets complete the part we can agree on' while they work on the second part (finding a way to get Krug to waive his NTC and find a landing spot for him).
This might really be a "more to come" for once, as we're so often led to believe. |

I hope you're right ans there is more info to come, just like the provy trade when it happened. It took a few hours for all of the details to come our.
I can't imagine DB doing this for a 6th alone |

this makes no sense....why not keep him....rather pay 7 mil for hayes than 3.5 mil for nothing...who ever replaces him will cost at least 1 mil....
absolute morons from top to bottom....hire a bunch of ex players that haven't owned a calculator since high school |

Can not believe the Flyers go from Fletcher to Danny Briere....can't even control his teenage son and now he runs an effing NHL club.
I hate this team. Laughing stock of the NHL |

3.5 mil done right in free agency will get you a better player than hayes is. Not to mention the asset you could acquire when you flip the ufa. Nothing wrong with this |

There’s nothing great about it. But they’re nothing that bad either. Look at the Johansen deal |

Look, we all were disgusted with Hayes lackadaisical play and have been clambering for a restart. No other team wanted him...this simply is a 3.5M dollar cap hit gift from the Blues. Pick your poison and stop female doging. At least we don't have another older defenseman (Krug) with a bloated salary. Best of luck to the Blues and Chief! |

Chalk this one up as Danny B's first fleecing. Let's hope it's the last. |

Agreed. I think we're all disappointed in the return, but has anyone analyzed the opportunity cost ? 3.5 million frees up cap space for at least 2 prospect players or a younger player whose stock is rising. I think that's where they're at right now. They want to free up a roster spot and/or minutes for players who are rising. They know what Hayes can do by now.
We just watched another Stanley Cup playoff. What was the most valuable skill from the forwards ? Vegas won because they were able to shut down a Florida team that was having their way with teams like Boston and Carolina - all very strong defensive teams. Does anyone think Hayes could have done that ? Even their 2nd & 3rd lines ? No, and this is what Torts knows. This was inevitable when Torts promoted Cates to first line center from wing. Look at Cates +/- on a losing team. Now look at his salary. That's value.

50% retention. The flyers get a 6th round pick. Another great move by Briere. - HockeyBuzz

It makes sense for the Flyers because they are tanking. A year late obviously but at least they have a plan. I would have hoped for at least a 4th this year for this deal. But nobody’s paying me to make deals. |
