I didn’t realize that. Reading some of Friedmans tweets I thought it was a full no movement clause.

I should amend my previous comment that I think maybe that 15 team provision doesn't kick in until 25-26, he may be indeed on a full NMC until then.

If it’s a lower end prospect to be returned by Carolina. Why are the flyers doing this deal? I guess the situation has become untenable with torts? Deangelo should be a deadline deal and the flyers would sure to be getting more than a single low end prospect. The torts effect I guess.

I would not waste a retaining slot on this deal also. This narrows their deadline flexibility

It's not a NMC, it's a full NTC. In 2025-26 it turns into a 15-team NTC.

IMO 2 reasons. His contract length, cap hit, and age don't quite line up for a rebuild, and second, his full NTC kicks in on July 1st.

His 8 year deal looks horrendous. He’s way overpaid. I’m not saying he stinks or anything, but he’s not the player that contract says he is.

I also think he and Torts don’t mesh.

I will say I do have some concern as there aren’t a lot of players that want to come here to play for him and I don’t want to run players out that aren’t “Torts guys” because his shelf life is finite to put it politely.

It is absolutely the Torts effect. If Jonesy is out golfing today he needs to at least get on the phone and bring the coach in line.

My guess is they don't want to be tied to him for 8 years, taking a spot that could go to a young player. He's not so good that he can help, he's not so young that it makes sense to keep him and grow and he's got some value right now. I think the team knows what they get with him and he doesn't fit. They'd rather have the cap space flexibility over the next 8 years to use on players that can be a part of the future.

Now that it's out that he was going to be traded, I think they're forced to trade him somewhere.

It’s not a horrendous contract though. The length is the issue. Cap hit is “fine”.

It just seems like it’s another player the Flyers want to move on from because he isn’t thriving in Torts’ turtle style hockey.

If the TDA trade where the Flyers retain for a poop prospect is dead then good.

That’s fine if the Flyers move him but the return better be adequate. Now it seems they are dealing from a position of weakness as it is now obvious they want to move him.

If it was Hayes (<=30% retained) + Sanheim for Krug + 1st then I'd be happy with it.

I agree, I don't want to just dump Sanheim.

Not concerned at all. Still think Sanheim and Hayes get dealt. Luckily, this is draft week, all the GMs are together. A little patience and may be even Laughts gets moved this week.

Guess somebody should have asked Krug if he would waive before a possible trade and before the media was alerted. Inexperience!

This! You waste a salary retention and valuable cap space for a B or C prospect? At least get your 2nd rounder back! If you can’t, hold him until the deadline.

If Torts is the reason for selling low, that guy needs to go. I’d trade him for a second rounder too!

This will be an important year for him. Needs to establish himself in Liiga first after failing to do so last year .
