People have been doing creative things with money since the stone age. The notion that the salary cap, which doesn't take much more than a middle school education to understand if you study it hard enough, would be an exception was always laughable to me. This goes for all sports, not just hockey.

It is. The price for him to take on a bad contract or to would have been walking around money for him. His words at the introductory press conference really ring hollow sometimes.
