Gibson stands on his head while getting shelled damn near every game.
Idk why some think that Gibson wouldn’t be desirable behind an offensively gifted team that leaves some to be desired when they’re trying to defend.
Light it up on offense, and have a goalie that can bail out many of the defensive lapses. (All while working on improving said defensive play). Adding Gibson, the Sabres would have two goalies that can do so.

I think Gibson would be stoked to play on a Buffalo team that gave him a chance to win games without him having to be damn near perfect.

I don’t know about that, his goals saved above expected per 60 was worse than any of the goalies the Sabres used minus Comrie. I know it’s a weird stat and all but that doesn’t strike me as someone who stands on his head. In fact two other Ducks goalies were above him on the list.

He’s been struggling for the last few seasons. I wouldn’t be giving up a lot for him at this point. I’m all in on Hellebuyck if I am going all in.

His GAR and WAR were both on the plus side of things which is something UPL and Comrie did not have. He's not elite but he can play a lot of games at or above a replacement level.

I can point to stretches where UPL did the same. Their defense was atrocious but his underlying numbers have been trending down for a long time. They would have to make it worth our while by holding celery.

The point is that they acquire adequate centers after drafting two of them very high and it looks like it was the right call.

They didn’t put all their eggs into the prospects baskets.

I’m hoping the Sabres do the same to a smaller degree.

For example I sincerely hope they acquire a legit goalie despite Levi.

Goalie stats (imo) can be /are the most misleading, idk (how the “high danger shot” is rated for one thing). I know it’s small sample size, but every game I’ve seen him play, I get vibes like from watching Lu during his first stint in Sunrise. I think Gibson set a record for games facing 50+ shots this year.
