Really? I see most in limbo. Only a few like Rangers and Panthers emerged. But that too can be short lived. Now LA about to step into it. We’ll see how that goes.

Yeah I mean I'm counting teams like Ottawa, Montreal, Detroit, Buffalo. These teams may not be great yet, but they have plenty of exciting prospects up and coming.

The problem with van is we've sucked for just as long or longer and we've got barely anything to show for it. This 'core' is as good as it gets with next to nothing coming up the pipeline.

Well I mean losing, not making playoffs and generally not having a chance for the better part of a decade will do that to a fan base.

Especially difficult while watching countless franchises rebuild (retool or whatever the heck you want to call it) and get back to being competitive in less than a handful of years.

Allvins team hasn't been a losing one yet. Other than a couple players, this is still Bennings team. Now that OEL is bought out, this season is Allvins team, where we will see what they do under his leadership.

It was nice of MTL to overpay for a small F so that AVS could upgrade.

He's 22 and Newhook has 18 more NHL games and 14 more points than Hoglander.

Caleb Jones will not be qualified by CHI and will become a UFA.

He played 2nd pair minutes on a bad team and came out with the best goal, shot, and xGoal differential among CHI defencemen. Worth a shot somewhere.

Why are there SO many "pundits" with little clue about how long it takes for picks outside of the top ten to become productive NHLers? Folks writing off Newhook because he hasn't become a big scorer yet - two players picked 10-31 have more NHL points. Patience

If dmen aren't falling in the top ten in makes sense to move back with Buffalo or Nashville to grab a second round pick and a good defenseman. Providing they're game for it.

Feels as if the prices for trades are a little high due to the weaker free agent class. Could be a good thing though that teams spend their assets in trades and fill spots through trades. Might be able to get a free agent cheaper, someone like Rodriguez or Accairi.

I dunno they've continued to latch onto the guys Benning brought in for the most part. Or picked up the same trash along the way at the cost of picks like Stillman, Dermott, Kravtsov, Bear (I don't mind Bear tbh but not at the cost and now injured).

They had the balls to trade Horvat instead of letting him walk ... I guess that's a step in the right direction I'll give them that. But so far, for all their talk of there needing to be big change, they haven't really done much impactful.

I guess if Erik Kartsson can win a Norris, while playing brutal defense, then maybe one day Hughes can as well.

Sorry I don't feel the same way as you do about the 2 mentioned players, I will try my best to be a better Canucks fan.

Hughes, 76pts only 34pims and +15, in the 78 games last year pretty much screams good defence.
Pettersson, 102pts, 16pims, +16 in 80 games pretty damn good franchise player material.
