It is really not that big of an issue. If he wants over 10 mil you trade him and get a very good return. It is not like we are one move away from the cup.
Instant cap relief and a sh1tload of prospects and young players in return. I don't see this as a problem TBH. - VANTEL
Oh yeah, totally agree if all options were on table. It just seems like this franchise operates with the notion that there will be no true rebuild, so cashing in on an asset like this usually doesn’t happen. Not sure why they continue to handicap themselves in this way (other than Aquilini theory), but they do. |

They have the money to re-sign him, but does it make sense to lock out the rest of your team build? If Boeser is his winger and his first pair D has Myers on it where do you think the team will end up?
I like the player personally but signing him at 10 mil and the rest of your team is the Canucks it sort of reminds me like owning a Rolls Royce and living in a tent on Hastings. - VANTEL
Do you know how many good teams pay their star players, that’s more than one player, that kind of money? Teams like Tampa won the Stanley Cup paying Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov etc. millions.
It’s the waste of paying guys like Boeser 6.5 million. Get rid of him and pay good players. |

Tyler Toffoli has been traded to NJ for Yegor Sharangovich and a third - LeftCoaster
Not bad return considering he wanted out. Better than Van got anyway! That Yegor guy actually impressed me. |

Toffoli scored 34 goals and had 73 points last season and that’s all the flames got for him

You think Myers will be here after this season?

If Elias Pettersson scores around 100 points again you give him the 9-10 million a year, all day, every day. You don’t trade a franchise player because he wants what the market says he worth, you pay him and build around him.
If you don’t have the cap space, then be better at your job and manage your teams money better. Lots of teams are paying a franchise player that kind of money. - LeftCoaster
9 or 10? Delusional! He will be making $12 |

I'd say $11 at a minimum |

Depends on when he signs and whether he stays healthy. Both sides could play a little poker on that front. You never know what hand the season will deal you. |

I was basing it on another 100 point season. |

His qualifying offer will be 10.25 so probably 2-3 over that. |

I am pretty sure they changed that rule his QO would be his AAV

Unless, for some reason, he doesn’t replicate last season, in which you’d be forced into another contract like Boeser. Some of theses bridge deals have painted teams in a corner. If they can’t surround him with a competitive team then he’ll end up like Timo Meier. |

IF he's a top 10 scorer in the league again he's going to get paid, especially at his age. There's absolutely nothing wrong with paying him as he's our best player.
8x11 would be great to me, but I doubt he accepts that |

He's 24 years old, a max deal expires at age 33. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted 12.5 on an 8 year deal. It would likely be worth it. |

I was just pointing out the rules changed about the QO. No longer the last year of the contract as the offer it is now the AAV.
For the record I think he will be traded. I just got that feeling from PA at his presser last week. Just a hunch. Could be next year.

Yeah that's fair.
If he were to be traded I imagine it would be for a substantial package. I don't really care as long as you receive more than full value.
He's our best homegrown talent in a long time, you can't give that up for a middling return. |

He is my guy but no chance he is there at 11. (frank) . Big versatile centers don’t drop. Ever |

Probably not, but there will absolutely be a good prospect available even if it's the midget Russian winger. |

Put down the bong, you’re such a drama queen. There are two players in the entire league who have a cap hit of 12 million dollars or higher, McDavid and MacKinnon, he’s not getting 12 million.
They’ll come to an agreement on a long term contract around the 10 million dollar mark with the escrow expected to be paid off and the cap to rise in 2024/25. |
