Fly in the ointment is Myers bonus is paid Sept 1st. Holds up a lot of biz.

For the 3C either bridge or if say Colton fine with prefer 3 or 4 but a maybe 5 years being not really a C in the system looking to be an NHL 3C. Longer the term cheaper the hit. I believe the hunt for a young D will take time so to extract the best price. This draft really is the 1st domino imo.

OS Byram 5/6m. Cost us a 1st & 3rd. Av’s match idc if not (highly unlikely) we have our young top 4 D albeit a risk from concussion history. UFA market is skinny at best & then won’t be cheap. Soucy keeps sticking out along with Mayfield if the right term/price. Both best suited in bottom pairing but that’s a big gritty place for them if top 4 minutes can be taken of first. Asking for a lot lol

I wish he would sign an offer sheet but it makes very little sense for him. The other two seem ok at the right price.

Bean might come cheap as a reclamation.

Fabbro just hasn’t progressed but a change of scenery could help as well as some D blossom later.

D is such a hard projection & it’ll always come down to the price & some luck. Both need a stable good vet as a partner imo.

Squeeze the Av’s into a contract for Byram they cannot fit in yet. They have 8.5m to sign 9 players. A big gamble being he has never been healthy for a full season or close.

It’s a big swing for the fence that could be a make or break scenario. He isn’t as big as I’d like but can always compliment him with a partner.

Everyone wants to see if this management group can turn the team around, jury is still out. Acquiring a young top 4 D will gain them some respect on and off the ice. Vancouver is still viewed in NHL circles as a sh1tshow.

I think everything is on the table. If VGK Edm and now LA are grabbing the the three playoff spots can you really bring back Burrows Bear and Dries?

If playoffs are a real goal then you need to make at least 2 to 3 more very big bold moves.

They can't have baggage and hope to make the playoffs

If he was 21 or 22, it's most likely costing a 1st. He's 25 and a year from being a UFA.

I'd say value is a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick. Really not far off from being Ethan Bear. He might be falling down the depth chart with Barrie there now too in Nashville so he could become Bear.

Brian Dumoulin has never signed an NHL contract with anyone other than Jim Rutherford. Rutherford signed him in both Carolina and Pittsburgh.
