I'm starting to feel VAN will be one of the teams going off the board, so Simashev is possible. Don's boy Danielson? - VanHockeyGuy
I hope they go for a home run rather than a safe pick |

no offense Booner. but i remember that kid, Simashev, being posted back in November or early December. as a player to watch.
Pretty sure several called him a possible 3rd round type. as they have a love affair for small puck moving defensemen, who have a tendency to be bad defensively. |

Much rather see them make a big splash and try get Fantilli, or Carlsson.
Either of those 2 centre's would be franchise altering. |

I'm not sure what you think I said about him aside from that little joke to someone else.
He's going to be NHL available in 2 years and a very good player by then. He rounds out the consensus top 4 dmen in this draft. He shoots left so from a Canucks's perspective, I'd hope for Willander if it was a choice of those two.

Trade 11th plus JTM plus to CBJ for 3rd and Roslovic
Trade Myers to Nashville for Johansen and Fabro
Draft Carlsson, Johansen fills in 2C until Carlsson is ready

Much rather go hard after Fantilli, but Carlsson Is a heck of a player as well and not sure why anyone would want Roslovic, he is terrible. |

Those picks don’t get traded too often. |

I am not of the opinion that there is a "top 5" that sets itself apart. I see a top 8. All bring different strengths to a team. Yzerman has been bold with taking Russians in the past when in Tampa and WASH has the Ovi Factor. That would be what I'm pursuing if I'm Hughes.
I could see both DET and WASH trying to move up to 5 to get Michkov ahead of Arizona. At 8 or 9 at least one of Leonard, Dvorsky, Reinbacher and Willander are there and they're all good fits for the Habs IMO. I'd try to initiate a bidding war and move down if the price is right.
If I'm a Flyers scout who likes Reinbacher ( or even Willander) and they are there at #7 I am reminding the other scouts and Briere that the last time Philly took a RD in the top 70 was 25 years ago. Seems incredible, doesn't it?
There is a very good chance that Van lands Reinbacher, Simashev, Willander and I'd be alright with any of them. If they aren't there, Canucks could still get a very good forward after they have traded down. |

Allvin likes Carlsson, he doesn't have the assets or stones to pull it off without continuing to mortgage the future. |

I'd honestly be okay with that entire draft. I'm not a huge fan of the Petr pick but all others seems fine and fills needs and don't have a problem with the players. |

I'm guessing 2 maybe 3 teams go off the board, should create some decent drama in here.

Looking at next years draft though. Long ways off but there are what looks like 12-16 D that are tracking as first rounders but maybe 8-10 natural centers for next season.
If the Canucks had a 2nd round pick, easily go C and D in the first two rounds. Canucks don't have 2nd's in either this or next draft currently. This draft has stronger centers and lesser D and next draft has stronger D and lesser C.
I understand the like for Danielson because Miller and Petey are here for years and his game is mature. Don't need a top 6 center, need a match up center.

Barbashev seeking a 6x6 contract. I guess can rule him out. |
