And even Fedotov is playing exhibition hockey right now, not on some ship in the Black Sea.

thought it was a mistake long before the back surgeries. They could have got a huge haul for him. Chuck rules. - hello it's me 2050 Yes, I wasn't in favor of that signing before the back surgeries either. He was already starting with the nagging injuries and to sign him to an 8 year deal at that point was just stupid. Could have been a great way to kickstart the rebuild (trading him), but nah. |

articles on Laughton, then some on leafs, made me think that the Leafs could use a middle six forward like Laughton, espcecially with the Cap hit, so I look at Cap Friendly. The whole team is going FA in the next 2 seasons, and they are lacking picks. Now, it has it benefits, they can reshape the team with the contracts. Do they have some blue chip prospects not in the NHL?
The Oil are connected with TK but I think Laughton would be the better get, again thin on picks, this years 2nd, next years first. But Laughts would fit nicely with his ability and cap hit.
Avs same, Geez Tampa, same but aging and draft capital depleted. If the Panthers don't win, they will look for answers, thinking the window is open. Vegas is aging and has Marchessault and Chandler Stevenson as FA's. Marchessault playing the way he is at 32, tough contract to sign, unless hometown discount and Stevenson big pay raise.
The teams still with a shot, seem to need that middle 6 swiss army knife, maybe D depth and at small caps, maybe package Laughton and Seeler to max return and fill two holes cheap, but they will have to have some good propsects, picks seem limited.
Hats off to the Canes, good team that with luck could make a run next season and have all their picks to re-shape the team. Hart would fit nicely there and they have the assests to return, maybe send our picks back,LOL. I would be on the horn with the Canes and top teams.
Seems DB has a wide vareity of choices, for Laughts or whomever. What team would you target???? - wcorvette
I dont think you target any team. More teams in the summer think they can contend than they do come the deadline imo.
Many teams can use the players the flyers should be dangling out there. Those teams know Danny is open for business.

31 year old hockey player with 2 back surgeries and lots of miles on his body (been in the league since he was 18 and plays a physical game). I think there is a pretty good bet that this contract is going to age horrifically. I truly hope I end up looking like a total moron with this comment, but I don't like those chances either. - Phillywhiteout
You're not a total moron for having concern about the contract and the player moving forward. Everyone is, including me. You won't be a total moron if he comes back healthy and plays well for having that concern. However, it's an 8 year contract. Until it plays out, the contract is not a colossal blunder. |

he fulfilled his commitment seems. So we shall see if he comes over. Saw reports he signed a new deal in Russia so who knows. - hello it's me 2050
The new deal is still not confirmed, but it wouldn't surprise me if CSKA threw a good chunk of change at him to get him to stay.
Earn millions being a starter at home or cross the pond and play in the AHL or back up Hart on an ELC. |

It would be a shame if he didn't come over. He looks like a giant in that photo; he could cover a lot of net. |

they fact he wanted to re-sign tells me he learned a lot from CC. Spend the rest of your career on a losing team. Though cant fault for taking the cash.

if he does I wonder is the plan NHL or AHL to start. Guess that would work itself out.
Would be a very crowded crease if he does. Someone will have to get moved.

honor over business on that one, guy was bargan deal for so long and who they were going to re-tool with. I get it. If he stayed healthy it would have been a good deal under 8 mil, for the player. CF just couldn't see what was next. Sure sign Coots, then hold your picks and lose for a year or two, contending was never an option, Coots had 8 years. 20/20, yea should have moved him but I get why not, the OTHER moves are really what is troublesome. |

funny decades of "if we only had a goalie" now there is depth and if we only had a team.

Big Coots fan and yes it needs to play out, he could never be back 100, or 3 years from now he could be part of a cup run, all that matters. I will say if it has a home, it is currently living in big blunder, time will tell where it ends.

6'8. I believe that would make him the tallest goalie in the NHL.

Trading Couturier for future assets before re-signing had merit. Contrary to popular opinion and from incorrect sources. My stance was not to re-sign him to build around him. It was to re-sign him so that they had some support to take on the heavy minutes. He is also a player that makes every player around him better. He is worth the cost if he can come back healthy to help the rebuild. Otherwise, who is the #1 center? Frost? Gauthier comes in as a center and is rushed in terms of deployment and usage? Maybe they can do the same thing they did to Provorov and stunt players growth. |

my comments back then supported Coots staying, and I still see value if he can stay healthy. We know he is well rested and has not accrued additional wear and tear, LOL. I think he comes out the gate strong, then we will really know around game 50. He will have Cam on his wing, assuming others will be traded. The Flyers have winger options that would fit with Coots and give him the chance to put up points. Cam can play left side and the right side is their position of Strength. I mean a line with Cam, Coots and Foerster has potential, if all healthy.
If Coots can play well enough to help Cam have a good season, where the Flyers can flip him at the deadline that would be an asset. Coots can contribute in different ways. |

I guess if you’re offered a first for Laughton you have to do it, but he seems like the type of guy you need on a, soon to be, very young club.

Not saying it’s him, but you do have to have a couple guys around. I think you can backfill that type of leadership role on a veteran short term contract. |

The thing that has been bothering me is that they keep talking about the pick being a late first. Well, if they are dealing with a good team, then of course the pick is going to be a late first.
I don't see many rebuilding teams with potential high firsts wanting to deal for Laughton. And you aren't getting a high round first from the teams that have been rumored to be asking about him.
It just seems silly to word it that way. IMO getting any first round pick for Laughton is a great starting point. The fact it may be later in the first round is really out of the control of the team offering.

Couturier plays a physical game? I mean, I wouldn’t say he shys away from it but…physical player isn’t what I think when I think Sean Couturier. |
