I am no Panther fan and the fans who threw stuff on the ice need to go, first time I seen that happen The fans down here are largely good fans, mostly transplants from the NE or Canada, a lot of converts. Then you have the younger generation, real fans, hockey is a lot more popular down here than you might think. I have coached in the youth league for over 15 years, played in the mens league for over 25 years, hockey has grown down here, like Buttman or not, SFL and Tampa have good hockey and good fans.

There are things that Bettman has done that send me over the edge…lol. The strike stoppages are the at the top of the list. I agree some of his choices about locations are annoying. I laugh when they say another team in southern Ontario wouldn’t work because the Leafs wouldn’t allow it….it wouldn’t change the Leafs model at all. It may hurt Buffalo a lot more as a decent portion of the season ticket holders are from across the border. If NY metropolitan area can support so many teams I’m pretty sure Southern Ontario could do so as well. The NHLPA continues to push for another team in the area realizing that it would generate stupid $ and that only benefits them.
With all that being said the games growth and dollar value and over all health of the game is extremely high. Bettman has made the players rich. The increase in salaries is astounding when looking at the last 25 years or so. Can’t always agree with his decisions but the results speak for them selves….I hate the hard cap, but it’s allowed every team to at least have a chance to compete and remain financially viable.

The hard cap better be going up more than a million dollars this year and the time to move on from Arizona has come and gone.

This would be a forward thinking move by Briere if this comes to true.

That would be great if DB pulls off another solid move because certain folks around here tend to disappear whenever that happens 🤣

Watched game 4 tonight and for some reason I was focused on the crowd. What a bunch of degenerates. D bags walking down several rows to bang on glass during play. Bunch of middle age dudes with backwards hats. People violently screaming at the officials.

Totally took away from the energy of the crowd overall.

Amusing column in todays inquirer, by Marcus Hayes. Here’s how it starts:

“ In their attempt to salvage their decrepit organization ruined by an insistence on hiring former players with little experience or little success, the Flyers have hired two former players with almost no experience and zero success.

New general manager Danny Brière has never been an assistant GM, or even a scout, at the NHL level. New president of hockey operations Keith Jones has never presided over anything more significant than a bachelor party, and he spent the last two decades as a hockey analyst by night who spent his mornings making jokes on sports talk radio, many of which dealt with flatulence; mostly, his own.

But Danny’s diligent, and Jonesy’s clever, and they’re both very, very smart, and I wish them the best in their near futures as … John Tortorella’s errand boys?”

Well Marcus….you know who had a lot of experience? Both Ron Hextall and Chuck Fletcher!!!!…not to say the new tandem is going to be successful, but to these are positions for people who know the sport and understand how things work. Guys with experience are often hired simply out of laziness and a fear.

That is right, you didn't give your opinion. You gave it as fact.
- MBFlyerfan

No I didn’t I never gave it as fact. I said from beginning this is what I was told. I always said who the source was. I never said I was the source. Maybe some who couldn’t follow along don’t understand the difference. Same as my cousin who works for real at or company g and family used to look for houses. Just passed along info no more no less

Their last GM and POHO had plenty of experience. Not a ton of success, but plenty of experience. Still it’s a pretty funny column

Typically 4th liners get 8-10 minutes a game. Nic D was getting more earlier in the season, but his minutes decreased later in the season.
- Don Nachbaur

Actually, they typically get a little more. More like 10-11 minutes a game on most teams. If you actually did some actual research, on NHL.com, where you can get players ice time stats. You would know that. The Flyers as a team that says it is committed to a rebuild, there should be no problem finding enough ice time for a young player who wins a true competition for ice time.

Love this! You call people fools, idiots, misinformed, embarrassing yourself, etc, but then you label those you don't agree with as trolls. Keep up the good work Himmler! I hope you are having a great day while wearing your Hexy jersey and playing with your Coots bobblehead.
- Don Nachbaur

Actually, I rarely do that and the overwhelming majority of time, I respond in that manner due to the tone of how they have posted towards me. In defense of myself. What make you a troll are the comments referencing me that are not an attempt at a genuine conversation. The hexy and Coots comment here just reinforces that. It's childish. The Himmler comment is shameful and disgusting. Again, I'm perfectly happy to discuss and debate my opinions, past or present with you. You won't do that though

Nailed it!! Hexy is unemployed for a reason and the Coots contract was a callosal blunder, but let's keep sticking to our agenda. There is no doubt in anyone's mind (except one person) that this will end up being a horrific contract. Vegas had 30 blocked shots tonight, but that is an archaic way of playing defense. Perhaps someone actually needs to a watch hockey games?
- Phillywhiteout

There is no evidence at this point in time that the Couturier contract was a colossal blunder. Your claim that there is no doubt in anyone's mind is what is called a fallacy. As far as the blocked shots are concerned. As I've said in the past, blocking shots in and of itself is not what makes an archaic way of playing. I'd be happy to discuss with you in detail what makes the way Tortorella plays archaic. Then we would find out who actually knows what they're actually watching when watching a hockey game.
