It sort of is, but I think it balances out based on projection. Let's say that as a comparable you use Brady Skjei - who has a similar point structure and is roughly a similar style of defender. I think Skjei has a better shot, but Severson has had the better point production.

Skjei is at 6.6% in cap, which is reasonable. This year Severson is at 7.5% of the cap - where you're in that Weegar, Pulock, Schmidt category - names where Severson isn't necessarily out of place, but I'd rather have Weegar or Pulock for sure.

Over the course of that 8 year deal, his final resting place (assuming 4.5% cap growth) is at 5.4% when he's 36 - when the cap could be around $114.5m.
