I'd tell Carter to stay at home and collect his check. Mostly because I don't trust Sully to do the right thing. If I knew Sullivan would use him as a spare part when injuries crop up, sure, keep him around. Since he won't want to embarrass Carter with that role, I fully expect to see him given a jersey every night. I'm convinced his scoring touch is gone. Dubas needs to take that decision out of Sully's hands. |

He scored 12 goals in the hardest league in the world. While being mismanaged greatly. |

How do you expect him to score more when managing him correctly means limiting his ice time or sitting him in the press box for at least half the games? |

Ok, coach. How do you manage the black plague aka Jeff Carter. If managed ‘perfectly’ (lol) does he score 25 goals? Are we giving him all the Ozone starts instead of sid or geno? Top PP? |

Dubas needs to contact Elon. I’m sure he could get him a rocket big enough to launch Carter into the sun. |

The last 20 games or so Sully played him just 8 minutes a game at 5v5. That was second least to Archibald. I don't think Sully is going to give him a jersey or role every night. |

Carter is not going to provide value for his contract, need to get beyond the cap hit. I think he will be a productive part of the bottom 6, he just can't be the best player we have there.
Ideally we can stack the 3rd line in FA and have him as the 4RW with a couple young quick guys who can cause some forechecking chaos. He can add 10-15 goals shifting between the 3rd and 4th line, he just doesn't have the speed to carry the play himself anymore.
If he is on the 3rd line, he needs to be the worst, not the best player on it. |

You would rather see Carter in the press box while counting 3 mil against the cap than creating a scenario where he provides secondary scoring whilst being sheltered 5-5? - Grinder47
Last season Carter had a -16 as a third line center. This was the worst +/- on the team. A third line center should have a +/- closer to zero (at least on a team that is not contending for the Cup). His average TOI was 13:42, which, as you would expect, is noticeably less than any of the forwards on the top two lines. There is just no excuse for this from a third line player.
If he has to play I would like to see him demoted to a fourth line winger, where he will do the least amount of damage.
This coming season he will be one year older. Is there any reason to think he will be better or even equal to last season? Ten years ago he was among the best players in the league. Even five years ago he was a force to be reckoned with. Now he should retire.
Some might say that I overvalue +/- but I think it is important because it shows how responsible the player is defensively. This is especially important on a team with suspect goaltending because when you put suspect goalies in bad situations they tend to give up goals. |

If he waived his NMC to go back to Columbus I’m sure Babcock can revive his career. |

You think Toews is a better player than Malkin? - MattStrat
I don't think Toews is a better player, I just thought it was hilarious how Ryan Wilson seemed to take the arbitrary list so personally and had to do his daily Toews update for a few months. It's a (frank)ing arbitrary list made by morons. |

Cheaper to just shoot him out of earth's gravitational pull, and shoot him into space. Use the savings on a new 3C.

The cheapest would be to just use hypnotism on him to hypnotize him into thinking that he forgot how to skate and will submit his retirement to the team/league and then to enjoy retirement.
Avery threw his skates into the Hudson when he (thankfully) retired. Maybe also hypnotize Carter into throwing his in one of Pittsburgh's rivers. The part of the Allegheny a little downstream of Washington's Landing is about 40 feet deep (in the middle) and that would be a perfect spot. I have been over many parts of the rivers in a boat with a fish finder and that is the deepest spot that I know of . |

As a fan, I'm more concerned with how he plays rather than whether or not he's placed on some arbitrary list, especially one is broken up into quarters for different eras. |

Been saying this since last year. Multiple franchises have proven it’s not hard to medically retire someone. This is the best path forward for Carter. |

Only if he is in on it. I would guess that if you sat him down and explained the situation, he's no longer part of their plan, he might submit a list of teams to get traded to. |
