So Gavrikov got 5.875 per and Andreas Athanasiou gets 4.25 per. Seems high for both. |

I think this is in your eyes haha...I've seen plenty of mention of both of their bad plays or general bad play, and what not, when its been happening in RW's blogs. He pointed out this past season that Tanger wasnt where he usually is with both the underlying and raw production stats numerous times. - MattStrat
Sure Malkin didn't backcheck at all on those 2 goals against he was out for, but oh my God he shot the puck and scored and OMG. When he skates and shoots, like...oh man it's so amazing

I’m not a +\- guy but a -31 in 53 games doesn’t scream amazing. Also 37 points in 71 games year before is higher end 3rd line stuff. |

I usually don't pay attention to fake rankings, but that list made me so mad. It was so pro Canada. |

AA is not a good player but he is fast and Chicago has to fill out a roster somehow. They would have been better off taking Granlund and a couple picks from us. |

One player I really wanted them to target this offseason was Barbashev, but I have a feeling this playoffs is about to get him overpaid. - j.boyd919
I did as well. I was hoping him and Acciari could be our 3rd liners. They were my top 2 realistic targets. I wonder if we are going to target Bunting as Zucker's replacement |

Barbashev has been nothing short of fantastic in the playoffs. I was listening to Mike Rupp yesterday and he claims Barbashev will be the number one UFA targeted tis off season.
Of course, he's been saddled with Jack Eichel and Jonathon Marchessault, so that may have something to do with it. Either way, I would have higher expectations for him than a third liner. |

The biggest problem with Petry is that he is not as good as Matheson but costs almost $1.5M per year more. Viewed apart from the trade that brought him here he seems to be an average defenseman although definitely overpaid.
Hextall's excuse for making that trade was that he is supposedly good at protecting goalies. Maybe he thought "I can't upgrade in net but maybe I will upgrade the goalie's protection". I don't know - I am just guessing on that. If Petry can actually do this better next season then perhaps the trade will not look quite as bad (although it will never be justified).
I am hoping to see Carter gain much familiarity with the press box next season. - PghPens668771
You would rather see Carter in the press box while counting 3 mil against the cap than creating a scenario where he provides secondary scoring whilst being sheltered 5-5? |

Most that realize he harms the team much more than benefits it when on the ice would rather this.

Nah. Pens to resign Poehling to center the fourth line and sign a guy with size and speed to play with he and Carter. Run a 2-3 forecheck on that line, with Carter the high man who can easily slide into the slot during the cycle. Then play Carter on the 1PP, sorry Jake. Carter plays true net front giving Sod, Malkin and Letang less options to play tiddly winks with leading to more pucks to the net. You get 20 goals from 3 mil cap hit instead of nothing. |

I kind of agree with some of this, especially the Poehling part. I'm not against trying Carter there if he MUST be in the lineup. I could actually see him being decent net front. You do need really good quick hands there though and his have been kinda stoney the past year and a half. Again, if he MUST be in the lineup, which I feel Sully will think so, why not try him in some different situations to see if anything can be squeezed out of him.

Sully is the problem. Dudes a hack who got lucky with lineups. I’d take a flap disc to his name on the cup if I could. |

I think Carter as a 4th RW is a fine option vs adding pieces to sell him off. he cant hold down a C role any longer but I think he can put up 10G+in that role.
Dumping Granlund, adding a top 6, better 3rd line and a top 4 and #1G is a tall order. |
