Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. I like Samsonov but I wouldn’t want to give him anything more than another “prove yourself” contract
- Dozzer
Maybe you can trade his arbitration rights at the draft. Maybe a team would like to take a chance on him and you recoup a draft pick. There's a lot of teams kicking tires on goaltenders right now. He's young enough and is under $4M per season. Time to stop wasting assets and start accumulating them. Dubas was terrible that way. If Woll is your guy, Murray is a good backup for one year. Instead of giving up an asset to get rid of Murray, gain one for Samsonov.

Yeah, hell even if it’s a 6th-7th pick it would be worth the move.

Only sign this guy if he takes another cheap deal AND they successfully move Murray.

Oh can you imagine if they somehow trade Murray back over to Dubas? That would be funny

You’re hatred alone makes me want the leafs to sign him for 8 years. I don’t care about his talent level at this point

That’s kind of my thoughts. Let Sammy walk, make Woll the primary starter with Murray as the backup. If Murray gets hurt meh, call up Kallgren and roll with the two kids who are A: the cheaper option and B: who have both proven they can play at the NHL level
- Dozzer

Kallgren hasn’t shown he’s an NHL goalie. He’s 26 and a free agent. Leafs have younger guys coming up.

I’d sign Sammy to a one or two year deal. He came on a show-me deal. He hasn’t shown enough for a big payout so give him another shot. I’d be tempted to ride out Murray for the year if Sammy doesn’t get signed except Woll has had injury issues of his own.

I’m willing to bet Holl will land the $3 million his agent was suggesting with this years UFA list.

Length of contract is my main question.

- Dozzer

well he has really carried our laffs for a few years so i would expect something long term, front loaded ala koval(frank)👍

what a (frank)ing joke🤦🏿‍♂️

edit: nice alliteration👍

Sammy gets arbitration. If he sticks to it he’ll be over $3 mill and that’s why I’m more than happy to think of the leafs without him.

As for Kallgren I’m fine with him in a backup role. I just think Woll deserves a chance to be the starter is all.

Holl is a decent defensive d man, Keefe leans on him a touch too much but he’s a 4th or 5th guy in the modern NHL (teams being able to afford a true top 4 under the cap nowadays doesn’t happen much). Expecting him to be the guy who can cover his partner’s ass is unfair… that’s the role of a $5+ million dollar guy, not $2-3 million.

He’s just going to be asking for too much to be kept.

ROR won’t be back, he’ll supposedly land $6+ million in a cheaper place to live. The primary prediction is Colorado since they need a a 2C so they’ll pay it out.

Have you chosen who you plan to blame this year? Still him? Even if he’s not here anymore?

Omg can you imagine he scores a winner when the leafs play whoever he signs with?

- Dozzer

I don't look for guys to hate. I just hate guys that actively make the team worse just by touching the ice.

My preference is that no one on the Leafs sucks next season.

The Leafs should watch both perform during the regular season. If Timmins can play at the same level of Liljegren, then you move Liljegren at the trade deadline. Saving on the cap and an asset is important. Brodie has one more year and he's gone. Time to start looking for a replacement.
- PrinceLH

Liljegren is the Leafs 2nd best D-man. Trading him would be very (frank)ing stupid.
